Quick response to Bud vs Momo

We know the vortech tune pulls a TON of timing low. We also know that these kits pull alot harder on the freeway. I think Rick said I had 6-7 on him from 60 to 125 or so and jason pulled slightly on me with my extra wheel weight...I think my tune right now pulls much harder then the vortech tune down low. I am only on my 3rd revision but I am getting a lot more timing low end so maybe. I know previously with my B&G i was seeing 20-22 degrees vs my 3-15 with the vortech tune...thats a big diff.

Just fyi I am running 22 inch Vs and I think what some are missing in Jason explanation is that even coming out soft or from a roll if the air is cool and the car is not heat soaked at 4000-shift in first the boost builds and breaks the tires loose. Does it suck for racing yes but does it bring a smile and looks hell yeah! I mean im cruising along and at 15-20 mph throttle it up...at 4000 to 4500 the boost overpowers the tires. You can hear it in the vids. Mind you I am spinning heavier wheels.

I firmly believe that with tuning we can get more low end from the kits but with the fact that all of us but Ralph dont have LSD's I think its just going to hamper our performance low end. On the freeway the other night Jason and I walked away from Rick according to his own post. Cool air and top end is where these kits are happy for now. I am hoping that with tuning and traction we can see a big improvement in the low end as well...Dont forget what I said about timing as well. Vortechs tune is pulling timing at WOT to 3 degrees and then ramping it back up. Daves tune NA is giving about 20. I have the logs from my b&g and initial tunes to prove this. Giving up that much timing is as we all know giving up power.

As far as power remember 100hp is a peak number. With the tune pulling so much timing the power curve is actually almost stock till 3300. I am adding more timing with my custom tune and meth injection down low but I am still blowing the tires off at 4000+ in first even after Ive hooked up to begin with. Is there more in these kits yes. Will a heads/cam car give them a good run hell yeah they are making good power sooner. On the freeway will these kits run a heads/cam car I think so.

Also 1 car length isnt easy to gain. Figure with the weight of our cars 1 car should equal about 30-40 hp. So ricks running about 410 at the wheels and jason is about 500 but not till the top end. The freeway run we all did last night showed the true pulling power of the kit...

Very well stated. I couldnt agree more with that, being a Vortech owner myself.

I always said from the start that out of the hole, the car is really nothing to brag about. SDcarguy, Im in the same boat as you, running the heavy 22" wheels, and when I try to explain to people exactly how much that slows me down, they laugh in disbelief.

Then I race them from a roll....

Suddenly those smiles turn into frowns and excuses start to be made.

I love the power that is felt from a roll with this setup. I wish the low end was alot better, but I guess its tough to have the best of both worlds. When I first got it back, after driving it non-stop for the next 24 hours, the thing I was most impressed with was the performance from say.... 75-125mph. Truly exhilirating. Before you know it, the car is just gone and pulling you back in the seat the entire way.

I still need to get a real CMR tune done specifically and thoroughly for my vehicle. Once that all gets wrapped up, we'll see where she stands.

Sounds dead on to me...and low end power will definitely be found by tuning!
