    Nitrous Question

I am thinking about running nitrous but I want to build the motor so that it could withstand a 500hp shot of nitrous. I have already picked out a set rods and pistons that Im going to use but I need to know what else I am going to need. I also need to find somebody in my area that knows how to tune car and also knows how to tune a car for nitrous. Also if you have any suggestions on rods and pistons I will gladly consider them.

    thanks-brandon

Why would you want to use that much nitrous? Imo the block and heads are not designed to hold up to that much cylinder pressure. Best of luck to you though.

the block and heads are extremely strong its the tuning that causes the engines to fail. i want to use this much b/c my father built a 406ci engine that made about 400hp and then had a 550hp shot on the engine and they never blow the engine b/c dad had it tuned just right. but that was on a carbureted engine and we dont know as much about EFI engines as we do carbureted.

Well first of the block and heads are not that strong. And it does not matter if it is carburated or f/i tuning. That size of system is completely stand along and has to be tuned by itself, other then pulling timing, which can be done with a msd box.

I would suggest you pick up a very good book called Nitrous, Maintenance and Engineering. Everything you might EVER want to know about N2O.
