    Easy Preadator Questions

I Finlay got my Predator. I am using the 91 Oct CAI caned tune (even tough I have 93oct Fuel). I used some info from a thread to change it. http://www.xeryder.com/predator/diab...t_predator.htm

I disabled the EGR and the ticking is gone. If I just leave it off is it going to hurt anything but the environment?

I used some instructions I found in a thread to change the tune.

I was curious what fan settings you guys use. I have a 185 thermostat.
I just decreased all the temps by 5 degrees like the thread said to but was curious if I should change them all to 185 or 190.

I was also wondering what your shift points are. I was thinking of going with 6000rpm.

Also the Auto Stick. I have to chose between option 1 and Option 2. What do you use?

I would leave EGR on. It does help cool the combustion chamber and it does not run all the time. Leaving it off won't hurt anything that I know of though. Be aware that turning off EGR may also turn off MDS. Make sure you go back and double check that MDS is still on. BTW, the 6.1L Hemi does not have EGR because they have cam overlap with the exhaust which does the same thing as EGR. Again this makes me want to leave EGR on.

For a 185 degree t-stat I would set the following:
    Cooling Fans AC Off
High MPH HS Fan On: 210
High MPH LS Fan On: 200
High MPH MS Fan On: 210
Low MPH HS Fan On: 190
Low MPH LS Fan On: 185
Low MPH MS Fan On: 185

    Cooling Fans AC On
    HS Fan On: 190
    LS Fan On: 185
    MS Fan On: 185

    I would suggest a lower t-stat like a 180 or a 170 though.

I would keep the stock shift points. Raising the shift points on a stock engine will hurt your performance not help it. You are shifting past the power band. Raise the shift firmness though. That's a good one to do.

Also, you probably should just run the 93 CAI tune with your 93 octane gas. Data log your ST and LT knock retard. If you see anything over 4 I would add 3% fuel (rich side) at all 3 RPMs shown. Then log again and see. If it's still high try getting gas from a Mobil, Sunoco, BP or ARCO instead.

    Thanks!

Now on the EGR, I already disabled the MDS because I found that it only gave me .7mpg better average mileage over a two mo period. If it is going to hurt the motor or rob me of power I will turn it back on. That is basically what you are saying about cooling the combustion chamber correct?

When I used a 180 thermostat I always got a CEL no mater what I did.

MDS should give you a lot more than that. You must get into the throttle a lot. That's okay.

AFAIK turning off EGR won't hurt the engine but it does seem that there are benefits to leaving it on. Cooling the combustion chamber is one.
If you want to keep our intake cleaner make sure you do the catch-can mod. EGR will dirty it up a but too I believe but not like oil fumes.

Diablosport is going to be giving us a way to disable the CEL from lower t-stats very soon I believe.

Cool. I did do the catch can mod. I love a clean intake but dirty girls. I think that is the way god intended things to be.

    Unhappy Tune

Ok I have a data log if anyone wants to see it. With my 93 CAI caned tune with just fan mods and a few other things (like firmer shifts and the like).
I have bad KNK St Retard and KNK Total Retard I think. KNK St Retard goes to 5. something during WOT from 20mph to 80mph. Otherwise it never gets over 0.00. Just during the WOT runs. Is this ok or do I need to start changing things? (Add 3% at all RPM's)

If anyone would be so kind please MP me your email so I can send it to you and have a look.

I sent you a PM. 5 isn't that bad but you should log KNK RET LT and ST. I'm not sure about KNK Total RET.

I have it already and have yet to get the CEL, 1 week of cold mornings to work. Last week I was turning off the CEL everyday.

KNK ST is the one that goes up to 5 at WOT. KNK LT is always zero.

Great, then they should put that in their next release. I just got the CEL today (76 this morning) even though I had auto sticked it a bit. I guess it just wasn't enough.

BTW, if it's really cold out you shouldn't get the CEL because it's supposed to take longer to warm up the engine.

OK, that's not too bad. The closer to zero the better but 1 to 3 is fine. 5 is just a little high but not bad.
