    best large displacment engine?

Just wondering since i am leaning more down the route of balls-to-the-wall, that if i wanna go bigger displacement, 392,426, etc, who makes the best engine setup? the most power and best reliability? also can they be boosted? Just kinda seeing what my options are, i wanan go big and not go home but i don't wanna motor i am gonna play with now and then and have it blow up on me lol. any input would be great thanx.

use the search feature. you can have any of the big motors built however you want as long as you can pay for it. ppp, hhp, fri, arrington or whatever other vendor offer 426's. all claim to be the fastest so i dont know if this thread will help. and they are all great motors and dependable. its pretty much the srt motors that are stoked and bored i beleive...not sure. use the search feature thats your best bet.

What size engine? R/T or SRT? Best thing to do is call the vendors see what they have to offer, parts they will install, talk to them about your goals you are wanting to set.

A lot of the motor size depends on what your build is designed to be. The bigger the motor, especially the more boost you put on it if you go that route, the more the driveability gets affected. NA, you're usually fine and will roast the tires pretty easily. Boost it and it's rediculous. If you plan on going the boosted route, the smaller the motor, the higher the level of driveability is. There are so many different ways you can go and speaking to someone that has experience with the high horsepower cars is crucial. You can give me a call or drop me an email at josh@highhorseperformance.com if you want and let me know more about your build and what you already have done and I'll give you my best advice.

In selecting the motors, I always say go with someone you trust. Look at their track records. You have choices of motors that are built in the builders garage and you have engines that are built by race engine shops. There's so many different options and routes you can go. Just make sure you trust the shop you choose to go with to be there through the whole process since you're going to develope a strong relationship with them, or at least you should.

Personally, the only limitation to the success (or failure) of the motor you build is your pocket book.

You, like anyone else, seem to want a motor that makes a ton of power, is super reliable, and handle boost if you want it to.....

    Wlecome to the club!

Lol, but seriously, any vendor can build you a motor like that. It all just depends on how deep your pockets go in order to get the best of the best in terms of parts. Most of the vendors around here do a great job,as Im sure countless members will chime in on their respective behalfs. So you will get a ton of advice to go with a bunch of different vendors.

The only thing we seem to all agree with around here is who NOT to go with.....

Best of luck to ya on the build!

Give Stu a call on 512-964-7724 to discuss options - there are quite a few and the motor can be tailored for the use you intend for it. N/A only, built for supercharging or built for a huge shot of nitrous.

Also consider the fact that building a strong stroked short block is not the place to cheap out. The more you put into it now in terms of good parts will benefiet you down the road. Speed is addictive and you may change what you want to do in the future. Just like building a house you build a foundation to hold a two story even though you may not want one now. Probably bad analogy but you get my point
I'll keep my money, guns, and freedom, you can keep the change.

It really depends on what basis you are starting off with.

Truthfully, I think that all of the displacements are going to be running very close to each other.

Go with what best utilizes the parts you already have, suits the goals of the car and also makes financial sense. My .02

6.1 based 426. i'm not speaking from experience of owning one, just experience of riding in one.

What, if anything is happening with the 440's? Seems that they were talked about as being ready for market then it seems to have quieted down.

I don't feel that it is a worthwhile engine. So much more money for 14 cubic inches just isn't worth it.

There are mechanical aspects of it that I don't like either, but I'll leave it at that.

Build a 426 from us or any other of the reputable vendors on here and be content with the higher ratio of cubic dollars in your pocket.
