Anybody running Mopar heads and cam?

Since I work for a dealer I was thinking about the MOPAR heads and cam... My only problem is they dont offer a race timing chain set...
I know people have had great experiences with HHP and PPP but I have a deal worked out with my GM. Will I have a problem with a NEW stock timing chain and a .500 lift cam?
Thanks to Motor for the cool avitar!!!

Not the .500 cam... You get a new set of lifters that delete MDS.... Im not really concerned about gas mileage!

Nope, mopar cams do not retain MDS. Also if you were going to use the Mopar PCM and cam combo the calibration doesn't support the MDS function.

ive always been under the impression that the Mopar cam is a baby cam and barely anything better than stock.

might want to reconsider on the cam.
heads are one thing, but any other cam is still similar in price... theyrej ust not that expensive of a part.

ive heard of people being very unsatisfied with the mopar cam.

.500 lift cam sounds very mild even for a 5.7. I consider the sidewinder a mild cam and it has .525/.525 lift. Agressive in a 5.7 is .540+ lift IMO.

Everyone is running the stock timing set. I have a .566/.578 lift, 218/222 duration cam in with a stock timing set. I've had no problem with it.

NYC SRT8: I believe Inertia multiplies the lobe lift by a 1.65 rocker ratio. So seeing how our cars have 1.60 rockers that puts your actual lift numbers @ .548/.560 lift. Unless there are some new rockers available for our cars that I'm not aware of. But yeah... If we can get cams with minimum lift numbers in the .540's and above we can't realy complain about that.

Everyone else: I also remember reading that Arrington uses a 1.70 ratio. I can't think of any other reason a performance shop would do this (other than to elevate the lift numbers or confuse other shops) when our vehicles come equipped with 1.60 rockers. I guess the gray area makes it okay as long as the ratio being multiplied is stated in advance.

I have a Mopar 392cid cam here but it's still NIB. Maybe one of these days I'll install the bump stick and see what happens. Being the 392 cam is on a 110 LSA your idle is more than likely going to be set very high (1,200 plus rpm) just to keep the car running and all. Trust me when I say, "that's going to get old very fast."
