    Pellegrino Chrysler Jeep...@$%^&*!

Well, Pellegrino had my car for a week and did nothing. They finally got started on the differential today after I lost my mind on the service manager. They still don't have the headlight housing or dash pad in. They told me they won't replace the fog light housing that is melting, because the factory rep says it has an aftermarket bulb...I told them that the bulb thats in the same one that was in there when I purchased it from them. I got a "well, ok, maybe we'll fix it." They also told me they won't fix the front end under warranty because it's an alighnment issue...even though we all know camber is not adjustable!!! They had no response when I said I knew it wasn't adjustable. And they said they won't check out the driver's side cylinder head because I have an after market intake and the pvc hose got pinched...how the @#$%$ does that cause spark plugs to be saturated with oil??? I don't think so!!! I just told them to finish the rear and give the damn car back. Frustrating as hell. It's even more annoying that act as nice as good be while being complete douche bags. I even gave the service manager fair warning that I'm not an average customer, and that I know what's going on. I also should mention that I had to argue to get the dash replaced...the factory rep tried to say that the air bubble under the pad was from a radar detector. WTF??? It was a 3" x 1/4" strip on the edge of the dash where there was no foam below the surface...give me a break. They finally give me a rental car because they won't have it finished before I need to go to work tonight...and it smells like a freaking ashtray!!! And now I smell like one too, after less 10 mins in that crappy Nitro.

    UGHHHHHHH!!!!

    rant over...for now

Welcome to the 'we provide mediocre service by default either because we don't know any better, or don't care' mindset of most dealers.

Of the 5 dealers I've been to for service, only BigO in Greenville, SC and Kelley in Springfield, VT earned my respect. Troncalli in Cumming, GA tops my list of places to avoid - they even screwed up after the owner promised that all problems were fixed and I should try again. Guess he didn't tell his employees that...

Sorry to hear that, Bill. I hate going to the dealer and *knock on wood* haven't had to take the Magnum there for anything. I will say that the service dept at the big Chrysler/Toyota dealer (1800 autoland) were very good when I had my LHS there for a recall on a broken seat bolt and the dealer where I bought the Magnum (Baker Dodge in Princeton, NJ) also seems like a good place. Unfortunately, GOOD Mopar service depts. are few and far between. That would never have happened at a Lexus dealer.

Maybe I should go back and spell/grammar check my rant now that I've clamed down. Nah, I'm too lazy. That stinky Nitro just put me over the edge. Oh, and the Nitro...what a piece of crap. It's so poorly made, it's like driving a mid 80's Honda. I can't wait to get my car back, so I can find another dealership and try to get the rest of this stuff straight. Ughhh.

Count your blessings that you're not driving a Lucerne. It's the sort of car which can make you hate cars in general.

I have pretty good experience with Carman Dodge in Newark De., with their service that is - they could never beat a car deal for a sale though.

I'll probably be taking my car there once I get it back Claude. I heard good things about these guys (and they are close), so I had to give them a try. I still can't get past them trying to blame oily sparg plugs on the tube from the intake to the crankcase being pinched. Every time I think about it I get infurated. I'm getting the name of whoever made that conclusion and calling corprate tomorrow. I can tolerate a lot of b/s, but don't insult my intelligence. I just hope my head doesn't explode when I go there tomorrow and ask how that pinched tube could cause either ring failure, valve seal/guide issues, or a bad valve cover gasket. My blood pressure boils just thinking about it. I mean, they didn't even attempt to diagnose the problem. Absolutely infuriating. And I know calling corprate will just piss me off even more.

Corprate will help but they also make a record which I dont think is good because a moded car is a moded car no matter what the mod's are and are just a way to get out of doing the work. The dealer makes money on your car doing the warrenty work is it jsut does not make sense for them to turn away work. So with that said the mechanics at bradywine work at HHP at night. Si they have a better grip on wht mods really do what to the car. And I feel in your case that this issue should and would be taken care of! So my advise is not to call DOdge becasue they will call the dealer doing the work on your car now and they of course will say its not covered because he did this and that to the car. Of course they are taking out the side of the butts but it will only hurt you in the end with getting the work done at another dealership! So I would take it where I to where I told you too because if it can be done they will do it. And if it cant be done then no will do it if they cant. Call Chuck and give him my name

when you say "the spark plugs are saturated with oil", do you mean the tips that protrude inside the combustion chamber or the part that the coil tower connects to inside the cast plug tube? how many and which plugs?

All 8 plugs on the driver's side head (passenger side was fine) from the tips of the electrodes almost all the way up the threads was coated with oil.

a pinched PCV intake hose could cause excessive crankcase vacuum which could possibly increase oil consumption, but i would expect all cylinders to be affected.

oil puddling inside the spark plug tubes will coat the threads as the plugs are removed. are you sure there was no oil on the top part of the plugs? has that valve cover ever been off?

I'm positive there was no pooling. I checked with a flashlight on the back two pistons after the first 4 plugs came up covered in oil. But I am aware that it could have seeped down completely not leaving a visible pool, which is why I brought up the valve cover gasket as a possible problem. I can't say whether or not the cover has ever been off, I bought the car factory certified pre-owned. Though there is nothing in the service record to indicate it would have been removed. The only records prior to this trip are from when the previous owner brought it in for oil changes.
