Scary day tomorrow!

Tomorrow I take my one week old daughter to Children's Hospital to test for Cystic Fibrosis. The lab tests came in on Monday from blood that was drawn at the time of birth and it came back with an "abnormal" reading for whatever they are testing for.

Our doctor tried to reassure us it was probably nothing, and people with CF live long and healthy lives. Looking on www.CFF.org, they list the expected life expectancy of 36.5 years. WTF? That's long?

I'm trying to be as positive as I possibly can, but it's got me freaked out as we get closer to tomorrows appointment.

Prayers and well wishes to all of you. One of my good buddies sons has CF and with medication, etc.... he's done very well.

Think good thoughts and remember 36 years from now - we may look back on things like CF as curable.

Yikes, that's got to be scary... keep your chin up though, who knows which of hundreds of snafus could have given them an "abnormal" reading the first time, chances are excellent that it's no big thing.

Thanks everyone, I'm doing my best right now to not think about it. Friday is now the test day at 1pm. I wish it were over with so I could know.

If the tests come back inconclusive, we have to do some type of DNA test and who knows how long that will take. I'm really hoping for some super low numbers from the test and that all is good.

My prayers are with you and your family. I have a 38 year old cousin with CF. He is in good health and is now expected to live as long as me, well probably longer the way I play.
