Have you posted a picture of your car?
I would love to see why you think your opinion or criticism is best... And hell no, I am not mad, butt hurt, or anything you mentioned below.
FYI, pictures of most of these cars don't do the car any justice. Unless you have seen these cars up close and personal, your opinion and criticism is null and void.Just saying.

I don't agree with this. There are plenty of rules of aesthetics; colour, balance, symmetry and proportion, light and shadow, the flow of bends and radii and so many more that apply to automobiles just as they do ANY piece of art.
The first challenge, comes with adapting these concepts to ever changing requirements of mechanical, and technological advancements, both in performance and design/assembly. At best Form following Function is a tentative balancing act, more often than not they are in direct conflict.
The second challenge, is promoting the Human perspective to keep up with the evolution of aesthetics due to these mechanical and technological advancements. That is, as the form changes to meet the mechanical and/or technological advancements can our appreciation of the new aesthetic adapt?
But of course there is that x factor, or the human factor. Pop culture, social climate, music, commercials, movies, fashion, and geographic factors too. Ford Model T Black, Ferrari Red, the Bullitt Mustang, Mad Max, post WWII American culture, Customs, Kustoms, Gas Crisis...and on, and on...
Generally speaking the automotive collective consciousness knows what is and is not 'acceptable' when speaking of vintage classics. History creates icons, which we refer to as standards.
Our vehicles have yet to develop a history to rely on in this manner. In fact I'd argue that even amongst ourselves we have different concepts of what the LX platform invokes.
American muscle revisted? Modern muscle? European Sport Sedan? Something else altogether? And which models apply to which category? Are there overlaps?
It is this kind of uncertainty that puts a greater emphasis on individual preferences, and with that inevitably comes bias. Which I agree is difficult for many to avoid. But a TRULY skilled critic should be able to do so.

The only thing I like about this thread is all the random pics. I could care less what you guys do to your rides. I'm always in for some eye candy.
Since I was going through this thread though, I did have to comment on Tx_SRT8's pic. Her goes...
Since you own an 06 MSRT8, I noticed that you bought the car or added the SRT8 emblem on the grille. Either way, Sh!ts not placed right...lol.

I’ll tell you one thing. There’s nothing like building up an old automobile from scratch and wiping out one of these Detroit machines. That’ll give you a set of emotions that’ll stay with you. Know what I mean? Those satisfactions are permanent.

Interesting thread; as bobsmyuncle points out some folks put a lot of effort into keeping a flow going that is congruent. Let's face it, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...without it we collectively would have little to be passionate about. And as such I respect everyone who gets motivated and actually mods their ride. Those that actually do it themselves garner even more respect. Here's mine, have at it;

Your taillight paint doesn't match. :P
Didn't you used to have a different hood? Maybe that was someone else.
And I've been torn about your wheels since the first time I saw them... But looking at them now, I think I really like them. Maybe that Turbine shape helps keep your brakes cool.![]()
Have fun and critique away. I think this thread is kinda interesting so many dynamics.. lol
And this winter going on air-ride can't wait

Ok, I'll play. Let 'er rip!![]()
I think its obvious.
I don't take criticism well lol.
j/k. My car isn't finished yet. but when its done I''ll be sure to post it up (months later after this thread is long gone)
I don't think my opinion is best, as a matter of fact in the first post I said it was worthless. But heck, I'll stand on my soapbox and talk if people are willing to listen
I'd be more than happy to have someone drive up to my house and then give them my thoughts on the car in person as well. Although with my luck the car will be filled with people that don't take things well lol.
I think thats what makes the thread fun. Suggestions. Some people will say "wow, ok douche, that sounds stupid" but others may say "hey, not a bad idea" and actually try it out.
lmfao. it seems like you are holding me responsible for what others are saying?
I hate you
