Nice shots dude!! I tried the railroad thing and old buildings too. I expected more votes from my Route 66 nostalgia...but I guess people like to literally see the open road. Here are some of mine:

Here is one I took of Junior's that I think is very worthy:

Starting over with a new Magnum RT (SRT8 Conversion)... 6.1L with SRT Max Cam, Corsa catback with chambered center pipes, Sinister Extreme dual ram intake system, SRT Suspension, silver Brembos, graphite powder coated Charger SRT wheels, frost white intake manifold (ported) and valve covers, matte black engine bay, carbon fiber engine accents, 300C SRT8 Front end, Matte White vinyl wrap, Black Ops 300-Challenger style carbon fiber hood. Project "SnoMachine" all work performed by Arizona Hemi Specialists - Plum Floored Creations, Mopar Automotive Photography

    ^^^ Meeee toooo!

I guess you guys are conceding the contest already!?

Not a bad idea to have the "rejects" in a thread, I guess... good looking rejects that they are.

I guess rejects was the wrong word. Maybe self rejected, yeah that's the ticket!

I just wanted a place for the photos I didn't submit into the contest. I do really like the contest idea, and knew I wouldn't be able to use the ones I took on Sunday again for June's contest.

Concede, never! Even though I only have two votes (thank god I got to vote!) and it's mathmatically impossible for me to win, I will not concede until a winner is picked at the convention - er, end of the contest.

You guys are brave....my "rejects" aren't going on here! (They're really rotten!) I would not call any of what I see above rejects at all. As a matter of fact, I see some really nice ones.
-Antolod's remind me of home (me=Peoria, IL)
-StPaulGuRu's Maggie in the 1/2 sun, 1/2 shade is a really cool looking "effect"
-Incognito's city lights are all neat (especially the bridge)
-Ryan's vivid colors in the first landscape shot (unreal!!)
IF THESE ARE THE REJECTS, I SHOULD DROP OUT OF JUNE'S CONTEST NOW !
Cause it's better to be hated for who you are, than be loved for who you're NOT!

Ha! Trying to type while laughing, not an easy task! This is why I wanted to start this thread, because I was betting others took some really nice photos, but not quite to the right criteria for the contest.

BTW, Post em up ma'am! This is not the contest thead, no voting here!

as far as the shade&sun pic... If I wasn't so worried about blocking traffic, I would have backed up the car a few inches, the thought was to just have a touch of sun on it.

Guys, you want breath-taking car pics?

Try taking photos of your car 1-2 hours before sunset or 1-2 hour after sunrise.

The mid-day sun is too bright and causes very nasty, harsh shadows.

If you must shoot during the day, try putting the car in the shade out of the sun. A mildly cloudy day will also bring better photos.

Such gorgeous cars deserve to be shot properly

    Cheers,

    Tom

Yeah I know. But I wanted to show what I was talking about. Pay attention to the shadows around the cars. How the curves are visible but blend nicely. The reflections of the body are clearly visible. These photos use particularly tight crops but you get my meaning.

You don't need a high-end camera to take great shots (it helps tho). Just a simple understanding of lighting will help improve your photos.

Another good trick is of course not being afraid getting down on your knees or even lie down on the pavement to take some low shots, they really compliment the car look.

    Cheers,

    Tom

^^^Hmm, I'm getting an idea... How about a photo assignment thread? You could layout the specifics of the shoot, and everyone could try and post their results. That would also be fun, kind of a work up to the contest.

Just try what I said above Get out about an hour before sunset and take some shots of the car. Use a tripod if possible because light will be at a premium. Try to keep the ISO level below 400 as anything above that adds way too much noise.

If your camera has a Manual mode USE IT! You can take some really nice photos if you just play with your camera a bit.

    Cheers,

    Tom
