Largest plane in the world at Houston today.

AN-225 Russian/British cargo company had some euipment to pick up in Houston today. Been awhile since this plane has been here. Was originally designed to carry the Russian version space shuttle. When that went awry they mothballed this plane for years, Then the Heavy Lift comapny resurrected it for long haul big cargo operations.

    Six engines and twin tails.

How would you like to have to rotate all of these tires?

    Loaded up and awaiting departure.

Yesterday her sister the AN-124 was here for some pick up. Cell phone video not the best.

That used to show up at the airport where I went to A&P school for pickups from time to time. They had to have a tug waiting at the runway so that they could push it backwards to the very edge of the pavement so I could have the most runway possible.

The Antov 225 was here in CT at Bradley some years ago. Pretty impressive plane. They say the fuselage of a C5 will fit inside.

    http://www.alexisparkinn.com/photoga...-Australia.wmv

BE SURE TO OPEN THE WEB SITE AT THE END AND WATCH THIS TAKEOFF!

A fully loaded Russian IL-76 cargo plane...... payload 1 million pounds!!!!

    This really raises the puckerfactor....

Listen to the "controllers" in the tower who are Australian: Ya gotta love it.

"The Vodka Burner" as the Aussies call it, literally uses every inch of runway.......

WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO.. (shot from the tower)
