New England Dragway's 2008 season opener is now set for Saturday, April 5. A construction delay is the reason behind the decision. "Part of the fiber optic system installation last November required removing portions of the burnout pads. The quick onset of Winter didn't give us enough time to install the new concrete. We're pouring the new pads on March 27, but we need to give the concrete time to cure. So I made the decision to hold off opening day," explained Track Manager Joe Lombardo.
The season will kick off with a test and tune session. "It has been a long Winter and all of us are itching to get back into race mode. I think our racers will appreciate the project," added Lombardo.
