    Srt maxx cam

Hey guys well I wanted to ask what is the highest boost level that anyone has run with a srt maxx cam? I have seen a few threads were people are running boost with this cam and it works great!. What are the hp gains with just this cam? And what else would be needed to do the install? Does it require pushrods or upgraded retainers and springs.

I just threw mine in last month. No upgraded springs/etc. From what I have read its the biggest cam you can go on SRT stock valve train. If you go to the power adder section you can see I have a post on power levels. One guy was making 577 with 8 lbs and this cam

If you have a 6.1 you don't need new springs/rods etc. You'll gain 40-45 RWHP just from the cam. Not sure what the max boost is but it has seen some success under boost, absolutely. It's not designed for boost per se, but it works well.

On boost I'd go with 8-12 degrees of split on a cam. The SRT Max will work with boost but more split will work better. Last year we went 214/222 duration on a 115 LSA for an SRT Jeep which is real small but it gained 70 rear wheel over the stock cam at 6 psi boost.

I've really starting to believe in running more split than we have been. I've got an new grind that similar to an SRT Max but 4 degrees more exhaust duration and it's good for 5-10 more HP than the SRT Max and doesn't give up any low end or mid range. I've been calling it an SRT Max Plus for lack of a better name. I do know that I've installed and tuned 2 of them in house now and normally cam only SRT Max cars will make right at 410 wheel HP on the dyno I tune on. one for the max plus cars made 430 but had long tubes which don't help much (maybe 5-10 HP) and it had an underdrive dampner which is good for maybe 5 HP. So it was definately 5-10 up on the standard SRT Max. The second one I did made 418 and that was stock exhaust, cam only the only other mods being a CAI and Predator. I've never broke 415 cam only on that dyno with an SRT Max to put it in prespective. So the NA engines are liking 8 degrees of split and if NA works better on 8 a boost application will be good with 10-12 for sure.

Damn, wish this new grind was out when I bought my cam. Sounds pretty good.

That sounds pretty impressive I think I will give that one a shot. Does it have a nice lope to it like the srt max stu?
