    Tinted Tails

I noticed several of our members have tinted tail lights on their LX's. Where did everybody get them? Did you mod it yourselves? I feel another mod coming....

Did not want to spend the money getting these done after seeing what the going rate was, so...I did it myself using the guide posted elsewhere on the forums (Thx RossE) with a few minor expert suggested changes. I still have to add another coat or two of clearcoat tonight. I'll post some pictures of the results when they are all done.

I got black housing LED tails and then Paul (goes by Charg-um here) tinted them for me. They turned out great and it's regular automotive clearcoat so they can be washed and waxed just like the rest of the car. A+++++

They're holding up amazingly well. Sorry for the water spots in the closeup pic, that was taken last winter (hooray for salt!).

I strongly recommend getting LED's and getting black housings if you want to tint... the LED's are brighter on-axis than any incandescent bulb will be so even with tint they shine brighter than stock. A black housing will reduce reflected light shining back through, making a medium tint seem really dark when the lights are off (the effect you want anyway, right?)

    T - Those look awesome!

Mine so far are looking pretty good, hopefully they are done. I have them drying now, I just finished spraying a second coat of clearcoat on them.

    Done

All finished with tinting my cars taillights. They came out pretty good, I would have gone a little darker if I were doing it again...Total mod cost me about $25.00 and a few hours work. Any other CenCalLX'er's want there cars' done let me know and Ill bring the supplies to our next mod day and do'em.

Tony, the lights look good, but...................you should either paint the top and sides body color orpaint the lip of the trunk black to match. JMHO.
    I like to pass!!

I spent the money and had mine done by 402 Motoring. Yeah its WAY more expensive, but they look like they were meant to be that way and they've held up nice the past year. The top and sides are color-matched to the body and they tinted the third brake light too. Part of the extra cost too, is that they paint up a whole new set of tails, instead of painting the ones you have. So I have the ability to replace my tinted tails with stockers if I do get a ticket. So far, so good.
