took my car to the track... yesturday!

Well i finaly got my 2008 300c on the track the other day. Live up in Ontario and went to Cayuga (Toronto Motorsports.. http://www.torontomotorsportspark.com/)

I have a diablo running a 93 CAI tune with an AFE2 intake. everything else is stock.. including my almost bald stock rear tires (which are twice as worn on the outside as the inside due to the previous owner)

After a couple of 14.6s >_< (first time dragging ANYTHING rear wheel and auto) i learned that atleast with these tires, i couldnt even launch at 1000rpm without spinning. But easing on the gas i managed a couple of these...

Just me in the car, with a cooler full of drinks and nothing taken out (spare/jack).. w/e the car came with was still on/in the car.

    R/T - .603
    60' - 2.133
    330 - 5.848
    1/8 - 8.882
    mph - 81.28
    1000 - 11.510
    1/4 - 13.697
    Mph - 104.46
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vtpG...e=channel_page This is a video of the run, only the camera kinda sucks and you cant really see anything... lol

This run was done the same as above, only i took the GF down the track with me, she had never even been to a drag strip.

    R/t - .501
    60' - 2.109
    300 - 5.849
    1/8 - 8.888
    mph - 81.08
    1000 - .000 ? lol
    1/4 - 13.722
    mph - 103.69

Anyway, i was very happy with the results, im not sure how high above sea level the track is... maybe +500 give or take. Also there was a bit of a tailwind, other racers there said they wer getting 1 - 2 mph higher on their trap speed then normal. So i guess this puts my car in the 13.8 - 13.9? which im very happy about, quicker then i thought they would be.

Ill be at the track again in a few weeks, hopfully with srt8 headers/mids/cats, 180tstat and maybe an underdrive pulley with cmr tune..oh! and a magnaflow catback! we'll see how it goes! thanks for reading!

Good stuff, man! I remember my first outing too, and how much fun it was to actually have numbers now, so you knew what to shoot for. And the first time I got into the 13's felt great - but you just stepped right in there, eh! 13.7's a great time for your mods. Save all your timeslips - they're fun to look at down the road.

    Enjoy it!

thanks guys :D. Coopers dad ill message you next time i go down. might be a few weeks because im gona try to get a few more mods in the car before then. I will try and make the GTA meet at the end of may, looks like a TON of people will be going to that.

If anyone is still looking at this thread, i know my 60' times are not the greatest... is that the best i can get using stock tires? Every time i tried to launch it it just would spin so both my best times were done by getting on the throttle once i saw the last yellow.

Even with Heads and cam, headers, cats and cat-back, good intake, a lot of practice, etc etc - I never broke below 2.0 60' times without drag radials. And with all that AND Drag Radials, the best I've gotten is a 1.95.

You should be able to get that 2.1 down into the 2.0's, but don't fret if you don't get below that without some more hardware.

But try putting your street tires down to about 27psi hot, and heat them up in front of the burnout box for a couple seconds. That will help make them a bit stickier. I had pretty good launches with my Toyos at 27psi doing like I said - if the track prep was good, and I did it right, I could get a launch with no noticeable spin. If you pegleg (one wheel spinning but the other not), try dropping the pressure one or two psi at a time in the tire that does spin.

ok thanks for the advice junior, i had heard mixed things about burning out street tires before a run.. never helped me with the FWD cars i had but ill give it a shot with this rwd next time around... and ill try the 27psi, i knew lowering it helped.. but now i have a number to try :D, it will be a must seeing as i probably wont get new tires until after the 6.1 exhaust parts come in.. if you know anyone who has some let me know!!! lol

thanks fargo and CRF, looks like i have some times to shoot for 13.4 with a cmr tune damn, and mr record holder over here running the 12.8 on shorties!... ill work up to that eventually! .. just might take a bit more mods then you guys have listed:P
