Summit ET Bracket Racing - personal best and a paycheck

Well, got up early this morning and headed to Cecil County Raceway. Last week I had run a personal best of 13.501 and the 13.4xx was haunting me.

Today was not a test and tune, but rather bracket racing. So...I got down early to watch some junior drags, swap the stockers for the drag radials and get the car cooled down after my 45 minute drive.

Word was - only one time trial and then right to eliminations. Well...45-47 degree weather, sunny, beautiful, DA of about -600 nearly all day - and very few cars!!! They gave us two trial runs (some folks actually got 3).

I ran in the Street class, not knowing any better and figuring it fit the car. It did. Next time I might run the Trophy class as well...no money, just a trophy.

I staged, anxious...not knowing at this point we'd get the 2nd trial run...so wanted to be pretty perfect and get a quality launch so I would know what time to dial in. (bracket racing wiki)

Here are results of the day. I did, by virtue of making it to the 3rd rnd, win $20.00 and have a check payable to me from Cecil County Dragway LLC. ($26.00 was entry fee :D)

The bolds were personal best times and MPH. Other proud accomplishments were reaction times, especially since this can either help you win or lose in brackets. Of course my final round red light stung....

Great job! So now that you've gotten your first paycheck, does that mean you have to go "pro" ..?

yeah, funny how consistent things were. Part of why I put it on a spreadsheet was so I could get a really good comparison.

I know why I ran faster the one run...really simple conclusion - I loaded the crap out the tc...so much that I went thru the lights...had to pull back...then tried loading it REALLY far again....more than 2k... :D

    Excellent Times! Nicely done!

Bracket Racing can be pretty cool, I've only been twice (at SSHS6/7) and this year made it to the second round - won the race, lost the war by .065..

Bracket racing was what fueled my real enthusiasim for my Mag. I'm not ready to devote much money into the quest for being the fastest LX around but every week I was anxious to see if I could take home a trophy for the day. Working on getting the reaction times lower and anticipating what times I would run and selecting a dial in was really fun. I love competition and bracket racing let me be as competitive as anyone without spending any money.

Great string of runs you put together. Consistency is the ultimate goal of bracket racing. Good luck the next time you go out.

Perfectly stated. There were 7 second dragsters and 17 second sunbirds at the track. People deep staged, shallow staged, etc....the one constant was everyone tried running consistent, moved dial in's for weather, conditions, etc...

I can see this becoming very addictive!
