Removable 4 point harnesses?
I've seen a couple of non-LX's where the car has a 4 point setup that 'clips in' (for lack of better terminology) to the existing front and rear seatbelts for each side. It appears that would really help with holding you in place rather than being tossed around (being strapped in solid with a 6 point rig the other day really opened my eyes to the difference being secure against the seat makes!).
Anyone seen/know/use such a setup?

Per just about any sanctioned racing body rule book and per the manufactures specs mounting a 5-point belt to the rear seat bolts is a bad....bad idea. With the belts in such a steap angle in relation to your spine you will experience sever compression of the spine. The shoulder belts much come off of your shoulders between 90* and 70* any steeper an you get compression of the spine, any shallower and your upper torso will move too much.
Also 4 point harnesses are downright dangerous as well, you must go with a 5-point. The problem is that to install them correctly you need to have the sub belt go through the seat. With out the sub belt, the hip belts will ride up into your abdomen area and cause massive internal injuries.
5-point harnesses can be a life saver but, when you install them incorrectly they can actually be much worse than a set of factory belts.
If you are just looking for something to hold you in your seat you may want to look into some of the seat belt locks that allow you to tighten the factory belts to hold you in place.

I can't speak to the spine issues, but I fail to see how a 3 point factory rig would be less vulnerable to submarining than a 4 point.
And if the shoulder belts are riding up over the top of the seat, how is it different than the belts that come through the slots in a racing seat with roughly the same angle?
I find that I get sore bracing myself in the car, especially in the left handers; the seat simply doesn't hold me in and trying to tighten the shoulder belt is pointless as I'm sliding sideways and not forward.

Steve - 3-point is just as bad fur submarining as a 4-point. Properly installed 5 is the only way to do it. And if you have shoulder belts that come through the seat lower than your shoulders that's probably less than ideal.
