    Line Lock. Worth it?

What's ya'lls thoughts on this? I'm going to be tracking my car fairly frequently and think this might be money well spent in the long run. If I start chewing through brake pads and rotors, that will get old real quick.

Last time I was at the track someone told me not to powerbrake for the burnout. Instead he said to push in the E-brake. Has anyone heard of that?

e-brake only clamps the rear and would do nothing to help, it would just wear out an additional braking system for no reason(that's a FWD car thing that imports do). I know line lock is a good thing for the track but I'll let a few people chime in with their experiences on the different systems out. Some i have heard do not hold the car well.

I have the Line Lock and I have a love hate relationship with it.

Prior to having a quaife the chances of doing the one wheel burnouts of course was 50\50.

After pressing the line lock and you notice your not getting a good burnout...you let off the button .....forget about using it again for a couple of secs.....because of the lack of brake pressure or whatever....I do not have all the technical jargon for what is going on internally. All I know is If you do press it again...90% of the time all you will do is illistrate the FRONT WHEEL SLIDE technique to everyone....

I think I could have done without this mod myself....

The guy who told you to use the e-brake must have been a FWD guy.

I like mine seems to work just fine dont really have any complaints....I always liked the idea of not beating up the brakes and rotors

I have the SLP line lock on my front brake system. It works great in the burnout box if you use the E brake to balance the right and left spin (block the right cable). As far as staging at the line it's worthless. I found it will slide the front wheels at the line. I'm thinking about adding a 2nd valve for a 4 wheel lock. Another thing the line lock does is completely turning off the traction control and ABS. Without brake pressure applied to the rear wheel portion of the ABS controller it sets a fault code just like occurs on a Dyno pull.

You have to be careful with line lock, You can over spin your tires and cause premature wear.. LOL

All in all it's a very nice mod to have, No glazing up the rear brakes. It works great off the line to, If your leaving off an idle, IMO is the way to launch these cars as not to bring the TQ mngmt or ABS problems into your run, slowing you down...

"front wheel slide" sounds like the line lock is doing its job...

Line locks are not transbrakes they are designed to help you do the burnout without wearing the crap out of your brakes and that is it.

Thanks for the input. I had heard that some liked it and some wished they would have never done it, is why I asked. if it saves your pads/rotors, it seems that it would be worth it.

Yea, and for our race class a transbrake is not allowed. That's why I'm considering a 2nd solenoid on the rear system.

Its fun to have and to show off to people when they want to go for a 'SPIN' in your car. Its the foolproof way to burn off your tires.
