    I am with NASA now...

No, not the rocket scientists (although they are actually a client of mine for some software I developed - had to throw that in)

... I mean the National Auto Sport Association. NASA puts on track events...

Weekend track events; the kind we don't have to trash our work week to go to.

Membership is a whole forty bucks a year. Peanuts.

I joined the NorCal region. In addition to having a Laguna Seca track day in January, they have numerous other days at Thunderhill and Infineon (Sears Point). The SoCal region has numerous days at both Buttonwillow and Willow Springs.

All events look to be on weekends.

Prices for track days are pretty reasonable. About what we're used to paying or a little less. No special regs and very often passengers are allowed in the car. There's something else thats new.

Very cool! My coworker is an instructor for the IL chapter. Sounds like tons of fun, I just never have money when the track days roll round.

Is that their 2008 schedule, or just from the 2007 events? I've followed them a bit, but none of the times and availbility lined up for me this year. One thing I have heard from a couple of people is that they do tend to have fairly high car counts on their HPDE stuff, but as I get faster I think that might bother me less.

That is the tentative 2008 schedule for both regions.

Car count is a good thing to watch out for. Shouldn't be tough to find out what the situation is. Last year's Laguna day We'll figure out the car count situation as time goes on. If it turns out to be a problem I just won't sign up next year and keep my $40.

I think as one gets more confident the passing/being passed is less pressure, as well. Hopefully I'm getting into that catagory now

I did drive an Ariel Atom yesterday; my neck still hurts from the g-forces

Just as a followon, I had the chance to be up at Sears Point yesterday for a NASA event (crewing, not driving). Very well organized event. But the run groups were quite large; I counted 46-52 cars in most HPDE groups.
