    Help with DR 60'

Ok so I just got my new DR's in a few days ago so thought I would take em to the track to see how they did. Well let me tell you I didn't see much. I am in Texas now so last night was still kinda warm (83 degrees @ 9pm) and didn't expect to see great pass numbers but I wanted to try and improve on my 60'. Here is what happened.

My first run was at a conservitive 22psi. They were new tires so I heated them up quite a bit. I ran a 2.3 60'. I let it cool off fro about 30 min and tried it again still at 22psi. I pulled a 2.2 60'. So now a little pissed I again let it cool for about 30 min and took a stab at it and dropped them to 18psi. This time when I did my burnout they tried to grab and it felt a lot better. So I figure I will see some improvement. Which I did all the way down to a 2.1. Now by this time the track was to close soon so I decided to let try it one more time after about only 15 min cool down because I felt like I had waited to long to get to WOT. So back to the lanes I went this time like the rest was only a 2.1 and I was in it hard.

Now the reason I am so iritaded is that on OEM narrow wheels. My best run was 13.90 with a 2.0 60'. Last night the best I could muster was a 14.02 with a my last 2.1 60' and the temp had dropped to 74 degrees. So I am desperate what else can I try because I have heard all about how more grip will help with the take off and improve over all performance and the smaller tire ups the gear ratio blah blah blah and so on. Am I missing something or should I just keep adding power and hope that it improves?

My mods so far are very basic. I have Magnaflow catback, aFe stage II intake, 180 Jet thermostat, and a Diablo predator with 93 CAI tune.

Ah, What brand and size DR's did you run? Engine HP and DA have alot to say in what the 60ft. time will be. Were you hooking up or spinning on launch?

Dittos on the bad track prep. At my local eighth mile track my 265/45/18 Mickey Tompsons hook so well that if I launch at 2800 they will spin 1 revolution and hook like flypaper, I hit the juice at 3,000 and get 1.7 sec 60' time easy. Last time I ran at New England Dragway, the prep was so bad that my car would break loose every time I hit the juice even half way down the track. My local track workers spray vht at least every hour . Complain to your track management. Also have you tried the 91 octane tune? I know it sounds wackey, but some cars run stronger on the 91 tune.

Well lets start with the track. It is a local track and the prep norm sucks that may be a tad harsh. It is ok but not real great. As for the tires I am running a Mickey Thompson 275/40/17 I got the set from HHP. I do not spin at launch but I am only launching at about 1800rpm. Still need a new stall TC. I will give the 91 cai a try but I am curious would you say continue running 93 oct or start using 91 oct with that tune?

    Thanks

Ok one more question I thought of and may be my main problem. With these new tires being a lot more girppy should I try and launch at a higher rpm. My OEM tires broke loose at about 15-1800 rpms. If the new tires help to hold it should I try for more or will I just spin? That is my question. Thanks
