    getting better

Well I got my hoosier 275/40/17's with Borbet wheels thanks to Moe's performance. Bob delivered on time as promised. Nice looking setup...That said I threw them on tonight and hit the track with the new wheels. Once again I need to learn to drive this beast from scratch. My best run was (they were actually all w/in fractions of this):
    r/t .091
    60' 1.900
    1/8 8.078
    mph 88.65
    1/4 12.468
    mph 112.95

    Now for my questions:
How on earth do I get the 60's down? I warmed up the tires (pointed the mirrors down to watch them both spin/white smoke), flashed the tc to 2500 right at 2nd yellow, then launch...my best 60' was 1.80....I assume I wasn't WOT quick enough out of the hole?

next question, the whole car started to rattle right before I hit the trap, never did that on street tires, I assume this is due to the streets in front w/the dr's in the back? The traps were lower then my streets which were always at 115mph.

I will say that I was still spinning when shifting from first to second and up to third...annoying as all get out....so based on that I assume plenty of room for improvement?

Best part, I got to drive home on the DR's in the rain, lesson learned put them on at the track!!! Did have a ton of fun especially when I whooped on a Corvette c6 (it was the drivers fault not the car, he was all over the place, he should have crushed me).....

    Any tips?

1.80 isn't that bad of a 60', just keep practicing and you should get better.

I don't think the car should be shaking when you are crossing the line, what PSI you running them at? Who put them on? They could be out of balance. I also wouldn't recommend driving hoosiers on the street even in dry conditions because they pop a lot easier than a street tire.

Atta boy Dave! Trust me, with how much you go to the track, you should learn how to launch that beast in no time. Hopefully some racers out there have some good tips for you.

The car rattle at the traps is almost definately the tires going out of balance. I know mine spun a little on the rim first time i used them and came out of balance. i would get that checked

start working on that reaction time. It's your best friend for the 60.
You'll find if you try to redlight, it'll actually be hard. Always try to flicker the starting light by just creeeeepin up by hoppin the brake. Then yuo can nail it on the yellow and hit the green with a good roll/ Drag racing is not a competition from a static start. It's a competition from a rolling start. Look at it that way and it's the key to near perfect reaction times.

The R/T is not included in the car's time, it's added to it in a drag race. He want's to get his car to hook up off the line to get a lower car run time. I didn't think his R/T was to bad, I figure anything under .1 is decent.
