    Do you tape?

Curious...saw a lot of pics from Moroso with a number of LX'ers with taped rear fenders.

I usually give a liberal spray of detailing wax after I swap the drag radials onto the car. Seems to make rubber removal pretty easy, but I see a lot of late model cars ensuring stones and rubber never see the paint.

So....just curious...do you tape? Do you wax? Do you say screw it - it'll come off during the next wash?

Option 2 is WAX, not was...d'oh...

My RT is a driver, not a show car. I haven't tried to get all the rubberized VHT clotted goo off my wheel well or lower rear fenders and don't plan on starting any time soon.

I look at it as a badge of honor, a pride thing if you will. I've got wheel well goo from famous dragstrips and some not so famous ones too!

hehe...yeah mike...I was leaving quite a bit of rubber in the fenders for quite a while. Over the winter cleaned them up and think I'll make a concerted effort to at least wipe off what I can at the track (10 seconds of effort - no more).

So you lower fenders still have rubber stuck to them?

Looks like from the poll I'm the only one thinking about this stuff....was actually considering adding tape to the repertoire..but then again...the wax has worked quite well.

I dont consider my car a show car either.
Ive been using painters tape as of late, primarily b/c I drive to the strip (Moroso) and back and I dont want all the stones and crap chipping my rear. If I didnt drive to the track on my DR's I probably would just spray some quick detailer on there to make is easier to get the rubber off...

Are you talking about taping up the car to keep the rubber from sticking to it when you do a burn out?

Cause when I first saw the title to this thread I thought it was asking if you are taping up cracks to improve the aerodynamics of the car.

I use the Geddex burnout guard. Just spray some on the rear quarter and wheel well and let it dry. The rubber doesn't stick and it takes less time than the tape.

Yes that stuff sounds awesome, but it doesnt protect against dings and chips/scratches. The tape helps a little....I think...

I started using tape with DRs, but the rubber fly's all over the place. So I tried taping the bad area's and spray on wax around the tape. But somehow the wax got to the tape and it was lifting on all the ends a few inches so I kinda looked like the resident LX vagabond at the HHP event at E-Town this past Sat.
