Cecil County Dragway, Sat March 15th

The ides of March are upon us.

Every Cecil day I have planned has either been missed by going to MIR or weather trapped me in doors and missing the track.

Looks like todays weather will move through and provide some good dry weather for tomorrow...with early morning high barometric readings and the chance for a good density altitude.

Gates open at 8am, Racing Starts at 9am.

I'll be there early - anyone else feel like joining?
Going to try to finally rip off my first 12 second pass, fingers crossed.

Fate is against you, it doesn't want you to get that 12 second pass

I'm driving out to Indy next weekend shooting for my First 12 second pass and I am really going to be angry if I get rained out.

You'll get it for sure Metgo...crap, you oughta be running 12.6's with the heads/cam combo and lite weight. Get some D/R's, make sure the tune and shift points are good. Can't wait to see the slips!

My disadvantage is my weight, I weigh almost 300lbs. But I do have some drag radials now too.

Well, as luck would have it, I got there at 8am, swapped out d/r's, checked air, cooled it down, etc...

get to tech and hear they are only running the 1/8th mile till the shut down area is dry. At this point it's already 46 -50 degrees and about 75% humidity with a barometer around 29.70. So - at this point I can already feel the CRAP DA is gonna be like running uphill in Denver.

But, with the old college try...run a few 1/8 passes with 8.4xx times....hmmm, not too bad.

First full pass of the day was the best...as the temps got to 63-66 and the DA was close to 1000 feet (VERY RARE for Cecil).

    1.986 60'
    8.479 1/8
    13.113 1/4
    106.82 mph

Ran a stack full of 13.1xx on top of that.
Tweaked the tune, air, autostick, etc....nothing seemed to improve.

Car's washed, parked, time for a cold one and dreams of 12's for yet another day.

Hey mag - I was in the staging lanes...next up after the freaking cycles were done...i had the window down cause I was sweating with the helmet on....a guy came up to me and started asking how i was running, etc...etc.... I thought for sure it was you.

I ended up being the only modern mopar (minus two srt10 trucks).

Yeah...keep me posted on when your heading down, I'll do the same. I only have a hand few more chances before boating season consumes free time...I think...
