Went to the local 1/8 mile track last night for the first time with the Diablo. Unfortunately that will be the last runs for this year as we head south for the winter on Saturday and won't be back until April.
Average for the 9 runs was 8.527 seconds at 83.19 MPH. The best run time was 8.484 and the best MPH was 83.48. Difference form high to low time was only .09 and for MPH only .61. So overall, pretty consistent again.
All of the runs were better than my best ever time in the 1/8, which was at Napierville in the spring. Compared to my last runs three weeks ago with about 10 degrees higher temps was .3 sec better on the time and 3 mph better on the speed.
I had been corresponding with Andy a PPP on my Diablo setup so I am comfortable that I am in the vicinity of a decent tune. I started with +10% across the board on the fuel and I used the Diablo data logger to monitor the Knock Retard and Cyl. 1 spark. I also added some octane booster just to be on the safe side. No knock at all on the first few runs so I bumped the timing 2 degrees and got .5 to 1.5 KNR. I then bumped the fuel up to 12% and was back at 0% KNR.
However, I could not see any really descernible difference in performance after the timing and fuel change. My best times before and after the change was only .01 seconds different.
I did notice that the two best runs I had that I was actually getting some tire slippage that I have never had before. I think that I need to work on the launch RPM's as that seems to have a measurable effect on trap times.
So, I wll put the Magnum away for the winter and get a CMR tune next spring. The only complaint that I have about the car now is the crappy idle and hopefully the CMR tune will correct that issue.
