The 10's are soooo yesterday, try 9.91 @ 140
Well being the nice guy that I am decided to take the pressure off all you folks taking a stab at the 9's
Apparently Friday night's 10.05 was just a teaser. The air wasn't bad +1250, the car hooked and went smooth. Subsequent runs turned up some misfires on nitrous though so I lost first round and was done for the night.
Saturday was spent pulling plugs, doing compression check, then I just cleaned and regapped an old set of plugs that looked better than the current ones. This time I set the gap to .024 hoping to cure the misfires. Just when I thought I was ready to hit the track I proceeded to bust the nitrous fitting in the Zex nozzle during a jet change.aarrrrrrrgh. Of course no one carries Zex around here....just NOS brand. So I had to buy a Fogger 2 nozzle....rip the jet holders out, drill/tap them to fit the Zex/Nitrous express jets so I could atleast run on Sunday.
Its also probably worth mentioning that during this process I relocated the Zex nozzle from the TB spacer to a position back about 4 inches in front of the TB to give the nasty stuff more of a chance to atomize, cool the incoming air charge, and promote better fuel distribution.
Mike/Lafrad wrote me a new tune Friday night @ 2am (thanks a million dude) to pull some fuel out of the top end as I am seeing pratios in the 1.9's where it is going pretty fat on the wideband. The car like that quite a bit as I am seeing 10.8 AFR on boost, pump gas and no KR. And around 10.5 AFR with the nitrous. Still a lot of work to be done on the dyno but the car is running pretty safe. Not bad for a complete email tune as Mike has never even seen this car in its current configuration
With everything buttoned back up it was time to hit the track. MIR had a big doorslammer event so track prep was top notch and DA was hanging around +1375....sticky as hell though.
First pass out the car deadhooked, and just squatted when I hit the nitrous.
The results...backed up with an almost identical slip 40 mins later:

I played with taking some fuel out via the nitrous jet but it really didn't like that too much....3-5 KR. Added the fuel back in and things settled down. AFR still in the low 10's though so a dyno session to see if the car responds better with less timing/less fuel or perhaps its happy where its at....after all the wideband is only a tool.
See you guys at the NMCA event in 2 weeks
