    Slow 60' for AWD.....why?

Cruising timeslips of fellow AWD lx's and I can't help but notice that our 60' times....suck. Even Done, running low 13's barely got under a 2 second 60'. The AWD has zero traction problems, and lower gears than the C. We should be yanking low 1.80's no problem. My old monte cuts 1.82's and runs 13.9's @ 97 mph, we run about the same mph but cut almost 5 tenths slower 60's.

I'm 90% sure there is some kind of torque management at play here. I pulled the stock intake silencer and with this gone you can hear what the throttle is doing. When you stall the engine up against the converter you can actually here the ECM close the throttle. I've gotten better 60's on the g-tech by launching from idle so maybe this is bypassing some of the torque managment. I know on my monte launching from idle killed the 60 by several tenths.

Hopefully the predator will let us fix this.

What's eveyone else's opinion on this?

Haven't timed mine on the strip but it has a bog initially, seems very dead from stop. As you say no traction problems??? Help!

Leaving ESP on certainly slows times by a tenth or so. The car bogs in first. This got to be a nuisance so I added an ESP/BAS override switch so I wouldn't have to remember to switch ESP off. (Note: this is fuse 17 and only works on '05's) I don't understand why the bog happens.

In the hotter summer weather, my 60' times are always about 2.003 to 2.015.

I also get a change in total ET based on launch RPM. From idle or from 1800, the times are slower than from about 1200.

I will soon have a Diablo and a CMR tune and we will see haow that helps. After that, the only thing left is the torque convertor or change the heads and/or cam again.

Of course, LouZ has better times but he is running a 392 stroker.

I'm pretty darn sure that the ECM is either retarding the crap out of the timing or not giving you full throttle untill you are underway, even with the traction control disabled.

    Done,

I would be very interested to see what your CMR tuner is able to do. The logging capabilities of the predator should also allow us to see exactly what's going on during launch. From what I'm seeing in the intial datalogging other guys are doing with the dashhawk and other scanners there is serious gains to be had with a better timing curve.

You are stating the obvious. That's what TM is.Get your self a NoESP mod or a GSM torque mod or the equivalent and a whole lot more HP.The other issue is all the extra rotating mass you need to power.

    Hemi31,

Even the guys with traction control completely disabled still don't have that great of a 60'.

I'm thinking there is just a lame timing curve or preset amount of throttle taken out before the TM routine kicks in.

Edit: If it is indeed TM, why would chrysler be limiting the AWD more so than the RWD's?

Well here is my take..... my best is 1.75 60' . When I tried to beat that with a higher stall and stomping on launch .....well ...... let's just say that did not turn out very well . (if interested see FOUND: weakest link in the AWD :(((((( ) .

I have already said my car never seemed right ....like a was dragging a drag shut or something.

NOW..... since the new T-case and MR Hemi31's feather launch technique ..... so far on the ahm... cough ...cough .... street, the car seems much more responsive.... I have not noticed the drag or slipping and she is deffinately running stronger.

I have not comfermed via the track yet .....

Now wether I had a defective t-case or not pisssing off HAL....I'm not sure.......

I might be mistaken and if I am I am sure you all will correct me, but could this be because the AWD has the 3.5 rear end?

My guess is the transfer case can't take the stress.....look at LouZ's post.

    That's probably another reason.

I was surprised at my consistant 2.0's at the track too. From a traffic light it feels faster, but was bogging badly at the track. I didn't know at the time I could pull a fuse to disable the ESP completely either.

I never got good launch from loading up... and I am using the RT Junkie mod.

Now the Predtor definitly feels different... We lose a lot in that 1-2 shift lag... and now that's not only gone... but it shifts hard... I can't wait to get her on the track in a couple of weeks to see what she does.

The problem I am having is the front wheels loosing traction, than the TCM freaks out boging the car.
