Anyone acomplish this task on their own and if you have any tips on the install?? Changed my oil today and got to looking around and its a really tight squeeze!! Not sure if I want to "try" to accomplish this task or not.
So... any tips would greatly be appreciated!

It's easier to pull the heads off than to do it on the car.

I didn't do the install myself. I had JBA do it when I was down in San Diego for the AWD high flow cat fitment. It was their first AWD and they quoted it at the RWD time/rate. All I can say is, any future AWD's will be paying a lot more if they have JBA do the install!

I hope you have a lot of time, and that you're a patient person (with a good selection of tools).

I had Eastway do the headers and cats.
They had done it many times before and it still took the Tech a solid day.

Most shops will pull the heads, as Eric said. Only downside is you have to buy new head bolts, but that's about an hour's labor worth of $$$... still well, well worth it.

I want to thank all for their replies to this!!
Pulling heads is not an option for me, so I will have to do this the hard way. If I have to drop the motor mounts...so be it! I have a very large selection of hand tools at my disposal. According to the TSM it states that to remove the stock manifolds, you have to remove the motor mounts to gain access to remove them. I have read some posts where those who have done it, didnt have to remove the motor mounts. I know that this will be an all weekend job. Putting in the JBA shorties, JBA high flow cats and a Corsa cat back system. I will take pics and post them and try to do a write up on this install. I will let you all know how it goes!
    Thanks again!

Even on a 3.5 it's a tight squeeze, I had to remove the cat back to get the mids off so I could snake the headers out and back in.

Couldnt do it!! I didnt have the proper tool to remove the 02 sensor from the manifold! You cant get a wrench in there to remove the 02 sensor and the town I live in didnt have a socket to fit anywhere!! I couldnt remove the heat shield with out removing the 02 sensor.
So... I just put in the high flow cats and a Corsa cat back system.

Local exhaust shop did mine. Same shop that did my cat-back. Paid about $250 for install as I recall.

I need to decide because my JBA headers are on my doorstep. Should I suck it up and do the install in my driveway or should I pay a reputable shop $560 and be done with it?

The instructions for the install seem pretty straight forward and I'm a decent mechanic. Between myself and friend of mine we've done both an engine and a transmission swaps on 2 other Chrysler products this year alone but my Mag ain't no RAM pickup or Jeep Grand Cherokee. And I have no interest what so ever in pulling the heads off either.

    http://products.jbaheaders.com/asset...eets/1964S.pdf

I'd hate to get half way into it and come to find out I'm screwed because I don't have the right O2 sensor socket or I have to invent a tool. And if they leaked 2 weeks later I would freak out. But I keep thinking off all the other things I can do with $500 bucks.

I know some tricks to do this but its that 1 inch clearance that bugs me.

Speaking of leaks does anybody have any suggestions for those locking (?) header bolts?

Well... it sounds like you've thought everything through and know what you're up against. I can't help with your decision though. I paid to have mine installed, and the mechanic didn't like my car much after that!

Good luck... what ever you decide (but, especially if you decide to do it yourself!).

Dealer has quoted me $200.00 for header install, have to see if they live up to it. I wouldn't attempt it for that price as I would be about two weeks probably!! Will find out soon if I ever get my headlights back so I can drive again,3 weeks Monday since I shipped them off!!
