Question Are AWD's quicker in the 1/4 mile tahn RWD'S

I've seen some stock posted times on the AWD Chargers and they are quicker than most stock(bone)RWD Chargers. When I drove the AWD I thought is was sluggish? So I went with the RWD.

I don't know specifically for times, but I do know that it is MUCH easier to launch an AWD, which may be part of it? I know AWDs have an advantage on the launch, but I don't know if that translates to an advantage in the 1/4...

2003 Ram 2500 Quad cab 4x4 CTD w/nv5600 ("slightly" modified...)
1992 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 #966/1000 (AWD and 4 wheel steering, awsome car!)
1998 Suzuki Marauder VZ800 (motorcycle, in long term full customization)

It does not appear to. RWD's with the same mods seem to be faster. The best AWD's without juice are in the low 13's. We may be more consistent however.

RWDs are generally faster than AWD with the same mods.

I have never been able to match a similarly equipped RWD at the track. Unfortunately, they shut the tracks down when it rains, otherwise it would be a different story!

Hey even Lambo's are coming in AWD now. When you want to get the power to the road doing it through 4 wheels is better than 2.

Grip it, rip it and go! A smokey burn-out is cool but it just means that you're not moving forward...

The RWD's are quicker simply because the AWD Transfer case introduces too much power loss. I've read somewhere up to 25% powertrain loss on the AWD.

    Cheers,

Can you provide the source for that info?
