    AWD Dyno Fun

Well , I tried to get a tune from Promotion...........NOT.......

Not their fault whatsoever......car would not cooperate........

First thing we noticed was the front axel spun at half the rate as the rear????????

We did the no espmod.....remove fuse 17.....disable esp thru diablo and various combos of the above.......

The car went into limp mode and would not rev above 3000 RPM....

We tried the jeep trick where you put in 2nd and nail it........

That didn't produce limp mode but the the dyno was like WTF???? and would not register......

At higher RPM(we went up to 109 MPH) the axels seemed to catch up......

but the dyno was not happy.....

I've got a few mods planned and gona "street tune" this thing......hope that's not gona be to expensive.......

Lou,the dyno we have up here links the front and rear rollers so that won't happen.I am sure Dave can do emails with your datalogs from there.

My car did the same thing at Promotion. It did crank out 138 hp at 3000 rpm's though!

I think the result is logical. The torque split form front to back is about 1 to 2. Thus, if the dyno puts the same resistance on both the front and rear rollers, then the rear wheels ought to turn at twice the speed, due to twice the torque.

I would hope that the AWD dyno has some way of adjusting the load ratio front to rear to accomodate our cars instead of assuming that all AWD/4WD vehicles are always split 50/50 on torque.

Oh this sucks, I was planning on hitting the promotion dyno for a tune after me H&C install in January.
Hey Erik what dyno are you referring to?

That sounds like a 100% dyno machine issue. It should have a way to lock the front and rear wheels together, or a way to adjust the load on each axle so the wheels all stay at the same RPM.

It's a Mustang that can lock the front and rear rollers together.

You are unable to do this on a DynoJet Machine... The car would need to be tuned on a Dyno Dynamics or Mustang Dyno.
