    '06 AWD RT needs lowering

Just traded in my '05 SXT RWD for an '06 RT AWD and I really notice the higher ride height, especially in the corners. I really think it needs lowering to get the centre of gravity down. My SXT, with the softer suspension felt better in the corners because it was lower, even if it did have too much body roll.

I've seen lots of suggetions regarding the K&W V2 coil overs and Eibach and Mopar lowering springs.

I really don't want to stiffen up the ride too much more than it is. Who has lowered their AWD and what has been your experiences?

Also, my dealer said he had to turn the rotors on it with only 16,000 kms because the pedal was pulsing. My SXT front brakes started pulsing around 30,000 kms and I had to replace the rotors with some dimpled, slotted rotors and ceramic composite pads to improve the braking.

I see the RT AWD had bigger front rotors. What has been everybodies experiences with these brakes?

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks guys!!

I'm thinking of doing mine... and I'm going the K&W route. If you just do springs, as I understand they are stressful on the shocks/struts and you'd need to replace those sooner.

They should have replaced those rotors at 16K... I had the same issue and it was replaced under warranty. Others had the same issue as well.

I've not lowered mine yet, (no cash) but will use the KW's for sure.
A friend of mine has then on his Magnum and the ride quality really isn't much different than my car. (I'm running 20's) and it most cetainly handles a whole ton better.

Unfortunately I leased the car with 16,000 kms on it so it was the dealer that turned the rotors before it was mine. I will be ready to replace them with either the Power Slot rotors and Hawk pads or the ECB dimpled & slotted rotors and Red Stuff ceramic pads I had on my SXT as soon as they start to give me problems. It was unbelieveable how much my braking performance improved with that upgrade over the stock brakes.

    Rotors and lowering

I had to resurface my AWD RT rotors at 35,000 miles because of pulsing. They also suggested replacing the pads, and I did it against my better judgement. I requested that they not use Value line pads, but they did anyway. Those value line pads really don't cut it!!!! They stopped poorly, coughed up a ton of brake dust, and squealed. They replaced them with oem pads after my complaint at no extra charge. Overall I can't complain about getting OEM pads at the value line price. So far all is good 4,000 miles later.

I too would like to lower the front end only, my AWD RT with nivomats seems to be jacked up higher in the front, and I would like to level it out. Suggestions?

My RT AWD didn't come with the towing package to I guess I don't have the novimats on the rear. I checked out the KW website and it sure seems like the V2s are the way to go because you can adjust ride height and shock valving at all four corners. Just waiting for a price from the local suspension shop to install them.

I've had my Eibachs on now for about 2 weeks and I love them ... they killed that huge fender gap and gave me a nice flat cornering attitude that I didn't expect.

Now I just need new rims and tires cuz the factory Continentals really suck ...

Here's my post with pictures of the Eibach kit on my AWD. The ride hasn't changed other than it handles really well on the back roads now! Eibach lowering spring pictures on AWD

I bought an Eibach Pro Kit from one of the forum members this past spring. Awesome ! It took about 3 hours to do the job, but was pretty staright forward.

Perfect drop. The rear settles more than the front though, but it enough to look awkward. I got about 1.5" drop on mine. I went with Boyd 20" wheels and the car looked perfect.

I just switched over to my OEM wheels for the winter and there is more than enough room for the winter. The KW's I hear are great, but I paid less than $300 for my kit. Money well spent.

I'd post pics, but my car looks the same as MAGNASAURUS in the previous post.

No it's not you...but it's really not that bad. The whole set up is much better than looking like an '80s monster truck !

I went with the KW V2s on my AWD Magnum RT. Lowered it two inches all the way around giving a much better look than the stock"hi-boy"stance. Thr ride is rougher on rough streets but much more feeling of glued to the road. Drop look alone is worth the price. Shop around if you are paying for install. One Dodge dealer wanted $500 and my dealer (owned by same guy) did it for $265.00 plus tax. You will need a four whell alignment which can run $100.00 also.

I went with the KW v2s as well and I couldn't be happier. I love the adjustability. I dropped the front end way too much initially, but I kept moving it up 1/4 inch at a time until it stopped bottoming on all but the worst bumps. Even at that my font end is still significantly lower than an SRT8. Also, I like a bit of an old school rake, and I've got that too!

I decided to go with the Eibach Pro Kit springs and had them installed for just over $500 with taxes. Definately was a choppy ride for the first couple of days but it has settled in nicely. Looks much better, and, best of all, it corners way better!!!
