    whats that smell?

ok, as i stated in my other thread i have just recently recieved and installed my new magnaflow muffler and blastin bobs 10 db kit with the 4" rolled tips and i love them. i put the on lat night and the already have about 400 miles on the already. i drove from new orleans la to houston tx. now when i stop at stop lights or get out of my car it smells like something is burning. is this a normal part of the break in for the muffler or the kit? or do you think there could be something wrong with the muffler. dont get me wrong, i love how much deeper the tone is but the smell is conserning me. thanks

Did you do one muffler or two? Reason I ask is heat shielding over the second muffler on the gas tank.
When I honk on mine it still smells hot a year later..but like said its just hot. Also consider the flow has been increased and the engine is burning leaner now..thus hotter.
    Have a happy ho ho.

It could be something not protected from the 2nd exhaust. Like Mic said, it could be something that needs a heat shield or heat tape protection. I know when I put on my Magnaflow cat-back, there was a litle smell from the new fresh metal getting hot for the first time, but nothing that wasn't normal. Same thing with new mufflers, exhaust pipe sections, headers, etc. Check for any body panels that are getting hot or anything like that and if they are, throw some exhaust tape on it and you should be good. Merry Christmas!

I`d lean towards the coatings burning off the pipes. Mine stunk for a month.
