tips on hitting the track with my 3.5L v6

im finally going with performance mods. i currently have blastin bobs and mopar intake.

soon to come is my hammer HO intake, tuner, 18" wheels

need to buy ported throttle body & ported lower intake, cams

need to install jba shorty headers

just wanted to get some tips from you v6 guys that have hit the track.

i would like to go to the track soon, this will be my first time so i want to know all i need to know about the track and what to do.

what tune should i run? should esp be disabled?

what does a stock 3.5L run?

Drop the tire pressure to 18-22psi in the rear and max it out in the front. Remove the spare tire and rear flooring - leave the lightweight lower one that covers the battery otherwise they might not let you through tech. Run whatever tune correspond with the fuel your running. If you have access to VP 100 race fuel then wait until your tank is almost bone dry and run about 3 gallons of that stuff and use the 93 tune and bump up the timing a few degrees. As for launching... I have the best results only brake loading it just off idle (1200rpm-ish) and rolling into WOT on the last amber. Dont go through the water pits unless your running drag radials - steer around and do a brake stand and spin them dry a little before you approach the tree.
Starting over with a new Magnum RT (SRT8 Conversion)... 6.1L with SRT Max Cam, Corsa catback with chambered center pipes, Sinister Extreme dual ram intake system, SRT Suspension, silver Brembos, graphite powder coated Charger SRT wheels, frost white intake manifold (ported) and valve covers, matte black engine bay, carbon fiber engine accents, 300C SRT8 Front end, Matte White vinyl wrap, Black Ops 300-Challenger style carbon fiber hood. If you can, get yourself a 25 cent fan mod and just run that the entire time you are at the track. If you have a predator, turn esp off, which will also disable abs and bas too, so be prepared. The lighter you go, the faster you'll be. Launch at 1200-1500 rpm, don't load up until after both cars are staged, or you will pull timing( i think this is the word im looking for). Anything more then 1500 will just result in tire spin or torque management will take over and bog you out.

If you have a 5spd .. let the car do the shifting..
If you have a 4spd .. put it in 3rd and let the car do the shifting..

I have noticed that when driving around town in 3rd the trans will hold 2nd gear longer before shifting, or even hold onto 2nd gear under the right conditions without going onto 3rd when driving slow. In drive the car does the opposite, just shifts into 3rd when required. Anyone else notice this? When the car is floored from take off I don't notice any difference in shift firmness, just the trans shifting like always at 6500rpm. Shifter position makes no difference at full throttle. My trans is the 4spd, maybe 5spds behave a little different.

Don't forget the tq converter too. That's going to help out on your launch.
