    Thought I'd try something:

I started with just changing the oil, washing and rain-x-ing the glass, and cleaning the interior, but I really wanted to play with my car somehow. I'd seen other painted intakes on here, so I thought I'd try something for myself. I wanted to paint the raised sides silver and the tops blue, but I like how this turned out so I might just keep it like this. I know the edges aren't the sharpest, but that's because I didn't do the greatest job masking. Once it's had time to dry, I'll try to scrape it up to clean up the edges. I tried while it was still a little wet and it was spreading so I stopped. Overall, I think it turned out pretty good and it was a great way to spend a frozen Northern NY afternoon. Much better than shoveling snow!!

    This is how it started:

    Tada!! The finished result:

Get you some 3M Fineline tape. Its blue, flexible and will help with the round number. I think you are headed in a good direction.

Make it a good long day to do it all so that the paint has time to dry good.

Somehow I'm not seeing the photos, but anytime someone trys a mod on their own it's a thumbs up.

The great thing about paint mods is that most of the time, if you don't like the results, you can sand it off and start over... Besides, sometimes unplanned results are far better than what had been hoped for.

All it took was some tape, a paint marker, a little rubbing alcohol, cotton balls, and a couple hobby knives. As Charginscott recommended, better tape will probably yield better results.

Probably not. I like how the silver letters/numbers look against the black plastic. If anything, I might just repaint it black. Who knows, though, I may decide to do something else in the future. For now, I like it as is.

    Thanks everyone for your comments.
