speed?

Hey. I hadn't been here in awhile, but I just had to vent.

I was bored on the highway here in Germany and had the space to "push" my maggie...well let me tell you I was happy to see it passed 105...then to 110 mph.... but then it STOPPED movinng at 117ish.
I did not know there was a governor, well I may have known, but I forgot.
I was just wanting to ask, if anyone out there wants to tell what there's stops at.
PS: mine is a stock-SXT.

I'm not sure what tires come on the SXT (the RT stockers were HR rated), but make sure you have the right speed rating before you crank this up!!

They are "T" rated at 118 MPH but if you are only going to go up to 140 MPH for a matter of seconds I don't believe the "T" rating is going to make a difference.

However, even if you use the Starscan to change the wheels/tires to R/T (some SXT's come with R/T wheels) there is still a 118 MPH speed limiter. You would think they would allow for "H" rated R/T tires/wheels and raise that limiter.

W/Superchips, you can raise the speed limiter to 255 MPH, thereby effectively eliminating it.

Really! Is/was it an option? I don't recall what was available on the '05s 'cause I got mine from the lot and haven't paid close attention since. Ok, I've learned something today, I guess I can go to bed now.

I've seen several. I guess it's possible the dealership put them on but they were sold new that way.

Doesn't common sense dictate that if you get 117ish, then ALL stock magnums will also get that? HMmmmmmmmmmmm...ponder....YUP.

I hadn't realized if the RT and the SRT8 had a higher limit, that was all.

And YES JIMSMAG06- here in Germany WOULD be an awesome environment to test the B&G flash, if AND when "santa" can afford it...LOL
