spark plugs v6...when should they be changed?

what is the life of the spark plugs? How long do they last? I have. I have 57000 miles on my magnum and it seems a little sluggish so I want to see if the spark plugs need to be upgraded. Im also thinking of upgrading the spark plugs to more of a performance spark plugs, what do you guys recommend?

From what I have readon the forums for the V6 spark plugs are good for 100,000 miles and for the Hemi I think its 50,000 miles. As for witch spark plugs for the V6 OEM are just fine for the Hemi you may go a different rout. If you wanna change them early, I dont see why not.

Im sure somebodyelse will chime in

The OEM Sparkplugs in the 3.5L are supposed to be replaced at 160,000 kms/100,000 miles..........IIRC, the 5.7L Plugs are changed at around 30,000 miles......and you need 16 of them....

I believe the 3.5L Plugs are different then the Hemi Plugs.........

Changing the plugs in a 3.5L in a PITA..........you have to remove the upper intake manifold to get to the passenger side plugs........I would advise having a spare EGR and Upper intake manifold seal on hand incase they need to be replaced......the EGR seal will probably need replacing.......

This is how far you have to go to change the plugs......

No offense to you Skullboy, but you should never stuff anything down the manifold.....You should jsut get painters tape or masking tape and cover over it. All the ripped paper or towel can leave stuff in there, and you never know what was on that towel.

My plugs got changed at less than 40,000 miles because the dealership was throwing everything at my engine they could think of to fix a surging problem I was having. I kept getting a Multiple Cylinder Misfire code, but instead of doing the TSB to fix it, they kept trying other things. Needless to say, I still have over 3/4's life still in my current plugs.

To Do Still: tint the front windows, wheels and rubber, and 1 MAJOR build going on right now...stay tuned...

    No offense taken........

I used KimTowel rags that were fresh from the box, so I know they were clean.......and i did check in the manifold with a flashlight.............

But you do have a good point........I have taped off openings in the past, but I don't know why I stuffed the rags in there.......they were probably handier then the tape!!! .....

I changed mine around 50k when we installed the cams because A. We were already in there seems dumb not to take the opportunity and B. To start with a clean slate to judge how the car was running. If you have to be in there for any other reason - cams, heads, ported manifold, etc...do it then. I wouldnt bother with any of the fancy plugs - throwing your money away. The stock ones are good, just dont pay dealer prices for them.

Is there a DIY write up anywhere? I've never done this on my own so I'll need a reference guide just in case.

This isnt specifically for the spark plugs but it will walk you through the harder stuff:
How to: 3.5L Lower Intake Manifold Installation

Once the plenum is off its a cake walk.
