I have an opportunity to purchase a used resonator delete tail pipe from the suit case muffler back and a CAI for $120 for the both of them. 2 questions? Will I hear a droan in the cabin from the resonator delete? Will the CAI (which I will put a K&N cone filter on) make a diffrence in fuel milage and performance? 2006 Charger SXT
So its a stock exhaust with just the reso cut out? if so I would bet you would have drone. when i first had my dual exhaust put on all I had was a magnaflow 1 in 2 out and it was awful drone I could hear it over my system in my car when I was driving. It probably wouldnt be as loud as mine was but you would have a noticeable drone, as for the CAI might make a diff.... Ive never noticed becuase all I do is step on it now because it gives the motor such a louder roar when u punch it. So as for guess mileage.... ehhh who knows. You would have to figure out youre avg gas mileage you are getting now and then just do the same after you put the mods on.
If it the includes the X pipe, suitcase and everthing back, with reso delete. In other words, an R/T takeoff with reso delete.
You will have NO problem with drone on the 3.5 V6.
You'll have a nice low growl outside. Nothing inside the cabin.
Ask me how I know.
You will, however, need to cut off the 2.5" clamps and weld on the 2.25".

I have decided not to purchase either item. I found out that they are both home made. As far as the exhaust I think I will be on the lookout for an RT setup. You can usually find them on Craigslist or ebay pretty cheap. As far as the CAI I am just going to run a K&N drop in filter for a while to see if I get the results I desire.
I would recommend the K&N CIA just my opinion its what I purchased almost a year ago and have loved it since day one.... from what Ive read... all CAI are pretty much the same Horsepower wise for our 3.5s. So you will probably buy whatever one appeals most to you.
I have read something about removing the air silencer box? anyone have experience with that and what it achieves?
I just recently put in a K&N CAI, and went with a used RT exhaust from a Magnum and am very happy with the results. Flows better and sounds better. I also took the air silencer out as well, not sure if it makes a difference or not.
I have read something about removing the air silencer box? anyone have experience with that and what it achieves? JC - Pipe in you did yours prior to installing your CAI.
Also just fyi - I have the RT exhaust that JC describes in the leading post - and there is no drone - it has a decent rumble - I am very pleased.

I deleted the air silencer on my charger when I first bought. All it really does is frees up the space in the wheel well and makes it a little noisier (not really). I put a filter just below and behind the headlight so i can get more fresh/cooler air to the engine. Quite a bit cooler than the old way per my diablo logs.
