5.7's are cheap to come by nowadays, a low mileage complete engine with a PCM just sold the other day for $2K. So if you have a V6 and are happy cool, no one is gonna put you down for it, but anyone with V8 envy just needs to ask around and be patient, theres some amazing deals out there right now

I guess you missed that point... We're not spending that kind of money. Spending that kind of money would be ridiculous, but we can put a few thousand in just like the V8s. My plan is to get it up there, i don't care if it's at a R/T, SRT modded level. Hell, half the V8 guys put 10s of thousands in their cars, and then sell them.

I will tell you why. . . the challenge! More kudos and respect for a 6 or 4 that performs, compared to someone just having the ability via buying something that already does. . .

thing is if go fast is your ultimate end of game for the car, why start with the V6 in the first place?

the 5.7L gets the same MPG as the V6 more or less and when you start adding go-fast mods your MPG goes straight to $hit anyway..

yeah so the V6 costs what $5000 less, then you turn around and spend that $5000 for a super charger or NOS or whatever to equal the power of a 5.7L out the gate..

that makes less sense to me than belittling someone with a V6.

this isn't an attempt to rip on V6 guys, but I live in a world of logic, where-in you see the big picture and to me buying a V6 up front with go-fast mentality makes no sense.

See thats what i dont understand people say its stupid to put thousands of dollars in a v6 but people put thousands of dollars in a v8 to be 1 sec quicker..its still stupid..its not saving a life, its not serving a purpose in life..its just a want.

I got my challenger SE for 19,600.00. I thought about getting the RT but the 12k difference put me off. I decided to use the SE for a DD with a few mods and take the 12k and build another ground pounder Dart. I guess I want it all!

Two tours in Iraq was the only reason I could afford a SRT8 so I know not everyone can start there. Bottom line is I wanted horsepower now and the ability to make more later. 90% of people here want more power out of their ride, doesn't matter what engine size. I had an RT but wanted more power so I decided to trade up once it was paid up. I had to wait three years but it was worth it.

As far as this section is concerned, to me it's like a big brother messing with his little brother. No harm intended but I can see how it could get annoying. V8's need to keep this section clear of unhelpful post but at the same time thicker skin is needed. Enjoy yourselves!

    Have both and enjoy them!!!!!!!!!!!

I have both,2006 3.5 v6 300 AWD and 2006 SRT-8 MAG and I love them both!!!!!!!!!! I come to this v6 thread cause I still like to get ideas on how to make more power for my v6, by getting info from you guys Ive been able to make my v6 more enjoyable to ride in!!!!! Its nice to jump into my v6 and enjoy a smooth and quiet ride!!!!!!!!! and when I'm in the mood for speed and noise I drive the SRT. I feel blessed having the best of both worlds. So why not have both!!!!!!!!!

I initialy bought my SXT because of the price of gas. I hadn't done any research and didn't think it was a good idea to get a V8. If I had done my research ahead of time and known that the 5.7 gets close to the same mpg as the SXT and I could have afforded it (Didn't look into it, so no idea.) I'd have gotten an RT. That being said, like the other, I want bragging rights for having a bad ass kick your stock V8 in the face SXT. Not neccessarily talking about RTs, ANY stock V8. Right now, my main goal is to be able to take my car to the track and beat my brother's Chevy 3500 Diesel and my brother-in-laws 2.5L VW Jetta. They both run high 15s. So far the only performance mods I Have are Airhammer HO, Predator 93 tune and an RT Exhaust. Hoping to do headers/heads/cam/ported TB & lower intake some time next year. I haven't taken my car to the track yet because last time we went my car was full of sh*t and I didn't want to empty it all out to run. But if I could accomplish my short term goals before all the other mods, I'd be tickled to death. Then I'll slowly start working on the others. After I graduate college I plan to look into a SC or Turbo setup and go from there. But again, if I had known then what I know now, things might be different. BUT, I wouldn't be saying "Buy a V8". I'm just not that kinda guy.

Well, if things go according to plan, In the next 2 to 4 weeks I will no longer have the Magnum and will be the owner of a mint condition/low milage/babied 2007 Sublime Charger Daytona.................

The 3.5L Magnum I have has been a great car and I learned a lot about getting performance out of the 3.5L V6.........but in the long run the car was getting up in mileage and those new 392 Challengers looked awfully good.............but in the end I was offered a deal I could not pass up on the Daytona (plus I wanted the Sublime right from the day I saw one in the dealership)..........

.......But I won't turn into one of those "shoulda bought a V8" guys.........

We've already had two 3.5s get into the high 14's. We're not looking to break world speed records, but we love to build our cars like you guys do.

So, on behalf of myself and other V6 owners.... please stop. It's a sincere request with no malice to anyone. It's been asked several times, but now he's taken it a step higher by creating this thread. If you ask anyone here, we don't really appreciate the comments.

i dont post for a while and everyone forgets about me. there is a lot more left in the v6 but i have hit mid 13's. and thanks to some of the fine vendors out there, someone should be able to hit 12's before long.
