    Rear End Question

I've had my car about 6 months now and after having it on the hoist here for a day while we built the exhaust i was looking at the rear end and i was wondering if anyone knew the difference between the 3.5L and the 5.7L rear ends?

Mine will only one wheel peel but i'm wondering if the 5.7 has posi/LSD and if it would fit.

    Thanks

The only way traction control and ESP can work is with an open rear end, so I doubt if any LX comes with a posi-trac differential.

never thought of that, does that mean even the 5.7 and 6.1's are one wheel wonders too?

Well, it means the rear diff is open. The traction control and ESP ensure that power is going to the ground through both wheels

The 4 speed SXT has a 3.6x:1, the SE(2.7) has a 3.9x:1, and the 5.7, 5 speed vehicles have a 2.xx:1 gears so you would lose a lot of power even if you could get it to work. As far as I know there isn't any programming for the 4 speed vehicles yet to change gear ratios.

If you have a 5 speed you may get it to work.

    I'm driving a 2006 300 Touring. V6 3.5L Automatic RWD.

Not too concerned with doing big dirty burnouts, just curious to see if it was possible or even a reasonable thing to look into.

Completely incorrect. All 09 and newer SRT8 LX/LC models have a Clutch pack limited slip in them. It's a popular swap called the "Getrag" and is all over this forum.......... even under my car.

All that the limited slip does is minimize the intervention of the brake lock differential programming of the ESP and slow down the wear on your rear brakes. The BLD will intervene when the wheel speeds are different and apply the brake to slow the faster turning wheel down. With a mechanical limited slip this is pretty well un needed and minimized at least.

Getrags come in 3.06, 3.73 and 3.91 rear ratios. Of course either the 210 mm or the 215 mm differentials have gearing options beyond that and both can be equipped with Quaife limited slips.

You could swap all these parts if you wanted to get where you want to be provided you can get a gear ratio close to what you need.........
