    Question Part Question

    I am wanting to know what a particular part on the upper intake minifold is and what its purpose is. The link below has a couple of pics of what I am wanting to know. Hopefully someone can help

    I believe that is the variable intake runner control. Actually called the Manifold Tuning Valve.

    Yes, that is the Variable Intake Runner..................it activates at around 3800 RPM...........when it activates you do feel the car pick up quite a bit......................

    The box you've marked in the photo is a motor that drives a shaft holding the butterflies. The butterflies are there to divert the flow as described above. The long air path enhances torque at lower RPM and the short path is less restrictive, yielding greater HP.

    anyone know of any modifications that can be done to this system i.e. keep it flowing to a single side all of the time?

    Sure - you could disconnect the motor from the butterfly shaft. I suspect you need the motors on the harness to keep from getting codes. Then just lock the butterflies in whatever position you'd like. Be sure to let us know what position you lock down and how it performs.
