Not A Hemi... so what?

I thought this was kinda funny. A guy at work that is into old muscle cars (he just sold a 71 Cuda) has a late 90ish Dodge Ram pickup.... you know the kenworth looking one. Anyways, it is somekind of special model, an SLT or some such with dual exhaust and a 5.9L V8. Anyways, a couple of weeks ago he wanted to show me this war game he plays online over the computer, so I follow him to his place. He lives kinda in the country. So were going through the backroads and what not and he keeps punching his pickup, trying to see if I could keep up. We were doing like 80 in a 40 zone. No traffic...like I said back roads. Well, I had to really rev my V6, but I was keeping right up with him. So after we got to his place he says "heh, I wanted to see what the Hemi would do" I said, Hemi? Shoot, if I had a Hemi, I would've been waving bye bye as I passed by ya...., I just have a V6. He was like "That's a V6?!" ... I think I made him feel bad that My 3.5 was keeping right up with his 5.9L (RWD by the way, not 4x4). Not bad for a "slow" (as some Hemi guys say) v6. Heh heh

lol...when I had my SXT it got up, and I felt I Couldnt be touched...but then one day...a RT made me feel bad :(

The old 360's were not real fast in the Rams unless heavily modded, stock Dakotas with the 5.9/360 would have a hard time beating a good runnung 3.5 LX. My 05 Hemi Ram QC 4x4 runs a 15.5 / 89 mph stock (without the nitrous) and a few 3.5's can beat that. I believe the 3.5 is a helluva motor on par with the Mercedes 3.5! I was impressed watching some of the 3.5's run at NEDW, seems like a couple were bumping 14's also they sound damned sweet for a v6 running down the track.

I had a 2001 300 M with the 250 3.5 V6,ran very well.

I love the V6 because of the power that it has. It feels smooth and it does get up and go. Sometimes I have to watch myself because I'll catch myself going 70mph in the 55mph zones. I bet I could keep up with a few of the older stock Mustang GT's without a problem.

I believe that his 360 is rated about 230-240 hp, but has more torque due to being a V8. But then again, his pickup is heavier and worse aerodynamics, so all in all, a pretty even match. I guess he didn't know that the Hemis have dual exhaust.

The 3.5 has combustion chambers that are more Hemisherical than a 5.7 it's just that Dodge has not blessed it with the Hemi trademark, but can you say you have a Hemi??...d*#n straight you can!! You just have to do some splaining to folks that don't know.

I drove an SXT every week for like 15-16 weeks until I finally stopped going to that silly little dealer I'd first ordered from. Just to annoy them after a while. My first ride in a Magnum was in that SXT, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Crossing through 80mph pulling hard, and I'm thinking "DAYUM! They put a freaking HEMI in these things too?"

An SXT is no slouch at all and I'll not be one to denigrate them one bit.

My buddy at work has a hemi magnum and he was very inpressed with my V6 the pull and the sound of my dual magnaflows.
