    nitrous on 4speed?

I've read alot about running nitrous in a v6 with the 5 speed. What would be safest to run in a 4speed? I'm looking at a 100 shot right now. Anybody have any experience with this?

I don't think the number of gears in the transmission would be as important as the engine itself. The transmission should be able to handle the extra power. The real question is how much can the motor handle. If I remember correctly, our engines have forged bottom ends. That means it can handle more abuse than another motor that's cast. The forged components are able to handle more heat and more pressure, which are results of nitrous use. As long as you can keep fuel and spark going, a 75 or 100 shot should be fine.

I'm not running nitrous, but if I were, this is what I would do. I would recommend a window switch so that you can dial in the RPMs when your nitrous will fire. This will put the nitrous spray in the middle of your peak power band and give you the most bang (literally) for your buck. If you don't have a Diablo, I would get one. Use that to tune the car for a higher octane fuel. Nitrous really only supercools the intake charge, which compresses it. That allows more fuel and air to be compressed into the same amount of space (your combustion chamber). By using the higher grade gas will be squeezing the best stuff in the same space, which again means more bang for your buck. Again, I'm not using nitrous, but if I did, that's how I would set it up. Good luck!!

To Do Still: tint the front windows, wheels and rubber, and 1 MAJOR build going on right now...stay tuned...

No Problem, I'm glad to help anyway I can. Also, if you go into the Power Adder's forum, you should find more people with more experience with Nitrous on our cars.

my 3.5 has held up for a couple years now on spray 125 shot. the trans might be something to look at because i think the 4 speed is rated for a lower tq than the 5 speed. remember the trans still has moving parts and a lot of stress is transfered to all of your drive train not just the engine. i think you would be in the same boat as i was in the begining. give it a try but be willling to repair and replace if something goes wrong. n20 has gotten a lot safer but if you are not willing to shell out some serious cash to fix broken parts dont be the first to do it

Anybody have a price tag on a 5 speed swap? If I do end up running into tranny problems I'd want to upgrade

the trans itself used is from 800-1200 then a mount not sure if you have to get a new driveshaft. the bell housing might need to be chnged sepending on which nag1 you get. and a tcm also a wiring harness it would be a couple grand but well worth it for someone who has to mod their ccar
