    Magnaflow suitcase

anyone ever just replace the suitcase? i assume it would be a little quieter than the magnaflow single kit...

also been thinking about a magnaflow 5''x11''x22" dual exit muffler (verses the 4x9x18 that comes with their kit) with 2 hemi resonators...

still searching for a quiet tone while getting some decent power out of it, not liking the idea of a full hemi exhaust swap

I see flowmaster has just the sort of thing you speak of. Its a single in dual out with two resonators. #817482. But if you don't have a V8 exhaust you wouldn't have a suitcase muffler. Just a single muffler. Here is a video of the istallation and performance.

If you get the R/T exhaust, it's true dual, so if you decide to change out the muffler, you'll need two mufflers to get rid of the suitcase.

The x-pipe is for balancing the sound and velocity of the exhaust gasses between engine banks. It helps a little with sound but mostly it's for balance. It's the same thing with an H-pipe but the X flows better than an H.

somewhat decided on a setup that should be pretty quiet.....

    magnaflow xpipe,

dual magnaflow 4"x9"x18" mufflers and still not sure if i want 2 hemi resonators or 2 more magnaflows at the rear, either way should be pretty quiet with a nice tone

I'd sugest just getting the magnaflow dual set up like mine, but while it's not anoying it isn't very quiet.

well id be putting an xpipe and 2 mufflers(4x9x18) and 2 resonators or 4 mufflers(2 4x9x18 and 2 4x9x11)....the magnaflow dual kit has 3 mufflers(a 4x9x18 and 2 4x9x11), so this should be somewhat quieter that their standard kits

Nope, I have the V6 dual exit kit only one muffler. Good agressive tone with the perfect volume for me.

It's about time BB does a true dual kit!

I run the Magnaflow kit designed for the R/T's. Single "x" core muffler in the middle and a muffler (or resonator?) at each tip. I ran it on the dyno and it showed positive gains in both HP and torque but each and every day I find I like the sound less and less. Lots of drone and it sounds very ricey. . . not what I expected at all.

I am interested to see what BB can do with that “x” core muffler either with different mufflers or no mufflers at the tips.

That is the kit I was going to get for my car, HHP talked me out of it for the same issues you are having, a "ricey" sound.

that's what I'm trying to avoid, which is why im going with the xpipe and 4 mufflers or 2 mufflers, 2 hemi resonators, i want quiet and smooth but stock is too quiet and for the $400 blastin bob magnaflow kit(no offense to bob as he makes very nice easy install kits) i can make a custom cat back with xpipe............ im going to use flipped over v6 pipe to run for the left side (all muffler going to be 2.25")

Damn, I wish I talked to them. . . I was actually supposed to have a full custom built kit but the shop I went to decided to change the plans without notifying me first. Needless to say I was not to thrilled and will never do business with them again.
