Long Tube Headers & Cut outs for single exhaust

OK hi all. Hope everyone enjoyed the Thanks Giving with the Fam

OK so back in May I purchased Stainless Works Long Tube Headers with High Flow Cats & mids as well as QTP low profile electric cutouts. I will be haeving them installed by the end of Dec. the latest.

I called around and asked about priceing for installs and I was quoted 575.00 for the change of headers and cutouts installed and wired up. Also 75.00 for 4-5 dynos pulls. Is that a fair price? The muffler shop that installed my flowmasters single in dual out quoted me 250.00 but just the headers. They know nothing of cutouts and never even heard of it and adviced me not to do it that the car is really low it will hit something while driveing, I will lose pressure & performance on and on and on. No my car is not lowered it sits on stock suspension on 18 inch rims.

I have seen pics of for cutouts installed on dual exauhst but not on a single. On a true dual the most common that I have heard and or seen pics of is where the coutouts are welded into the mid pipes in the first bend after th cats. I have a single where do you put it? Or even though you have a single do you get two cutouts and install as if dual. I only have one not interested in getting two if I dont have to.

Can anyone with single cutouts please post pics of cutout installed? I have an idea but would like to see it.

Does anyone liveing in NYC know of any shops that does good solid work where I can go for the install of long tube headers and cutouts?

Will adding the longtube headers with high flow cats change the sound of my exauhst if so how? Louder ? More drone? I have drone dont like it and have gotten use to it. All I have done to my my exauhst is K&N CAI, changed flowmaster muffler ( dont know witch one though 40's or 44's ) single in dual out.

Sorry for the long post would apreciate your advice, comments, inputs

    Thanks

Well, honestly, unless you can't turn a wrench at all, the headers you could install yourself and probably save yourself the cash. I installed mine, they aren't hard at all.

Congrats on the new parts that should be a fun combo. I've never installed these headers persay, but done the install of the JBAs 4 times. Removing the stock ones and the heatshields is the hardest part and using a good quality gasket helps so the bolts dont bind on the holes as much. If welding in the cutouts and wiring them properly up into the cabin is included in the $575 then that seems pretty fair maybe a tad high. They are probably billing you for 3-4 hrs labor for the removal/install of the headers which is fairly accurate and probably another couple hrs for the welding and wiring. As for the cutouts I would think the easiest place to be would be on each side right where the mid pipes and exhaust join - ideal for function as well. Only having one cutout would pretty much limit you to put it midway down the car where the exhaust Ys into that single exit. It wouldnt be as loud and would be more restrictive then having 2 cutouts right after the mids.

Make sure you add a sound clip with the cutouts. I'm anxious to hear what they sound like on the 6's.
