That's like 230 horsepower at the crank... I thought 3.5's had 260 stock?

250hp at the crank stock... I just found a baseline test Dan-0 posted for his 3.5L magnum (see thread here -- Since no one eles wants to.......)

Stock, he put out the following:
    176.3hp @ 6200rpms
    181.5tq @ 5200rpms

Obviously, this dyno run was done on a different machine, under different conditions, so a true comparison can't be made. But if ya toss that aside, the good news is you appear to be showing gains. I would've hoped to see better than 13hp considering the mods you've done -- perhaps once the Predator comes out for the 3.5 the margin will widen...

Just noticed -- your torque #'s appear much better than stock!

I would pull the JetChip and see if it has any impact at all. The reviews of its benefits are mixed and none have done a before and after test of the JetChip. Personally I think the JetChip does nothing for the horsepower, but my butt dyno isnt always accurate. I did a dyno a couple years ago and was getting about 189hp with just a dual exhaust.

I ran a dyno on my 07MAGNUM SXT 3.5 a few months ago and ran 191 rear wheel HP with just a cold air intake. I'm unable to get to my dyno sheet right now since I'm out of town, but will try and post it this weekend. Since then, I've added a stage 1 JET and duel exhaust tips. I plan on doing another pull soon to see if I gained any more. Like you. I'm looking to get 200 + with the 3.5.

I would have hoped for more hp as well. But, tq is almost 209 and I would say that's pretty good. Automatics lose a lot of power thru the drivetrain. Conditions and dyno's will vary a bunch but if the comparisons are ball-park then a 27rwtq increase over stock ain't too shabby. Add to this a Predator and maybe we have a car that can run in the 14's!

Do me a favor, read my thread. Read it good and study my progress if you will. I pretty much have as mush hp and more Tq than you with only exhaust and the jet chip. I posted my original dyno runs and my dyno run's after I added 22's. Then I also posted my dyno run after the install of my Exhaust Depot set-up. If you look at the very last message I wrote, I had dyno'ed again and gained even more. But that was without the Jet Chip.

Now here's the question. Did I gain more because I gave the car time to learn the x-pipe set-up or because I took off the Jet chip? I honestly think it's because the car learned the new exhaust. I dyno'ed the Jet Chip ealrier and got a small gain.

Anyway, if you ask me, I think your intake might be robbing you of power.

Also, I noticed you dyno is not SAE corrected.

    Went to the dyno

If you have any questions let me know.

Jimbo, I read your other thread and its good info. Thanks for the link.

The only way to really prove what gain mods give is to do before and after dyno runs on the same car, same dyno, same temp, and same humidity. Otherwise the results will vary quite a lot.

I added a supercharger to a miata years ago. I did a stock baseline and then exactly one year later did a run on the same dyno with the supercharger. I saw 50rwhp only running 6psi.

Yeah, I tried to do the dyno the same day when I put the X-pipe but I didn't have a chance. But anyway, remember our computer's need time to learn the new mods.

sorry for the thread jacking -- but a quick question...

Jimbo... I see you've had alot of experience in exhaust-land on your SXT, as you've been through a couple different setups. What's your take on the duals robbing power due to lack of backpressure?

If I did it, I'd value power over sound... I've yet to see a definative answer on it -- whats your take? If I remember correctly, you saw gains with the dual system. I wonder if a single exhaust aftermarket setup might show even greater gains?

I don't see a Y pipe dual set up robbing power for lack of back pressure. My Magnaflow set up has a single muffler with only one inlet and one outlet, that should be the source of restriction, so what happens after that should have little to no effect.
