    Check engine light

    Hi guys just thought i would ask a quick question.

    Does anyone know if the Check engine light stays on then flashes a few sec then stays lit again when the switch is put in the run position?

    I can't remember if it flashed before. The light doesn't stay on with the engine on.

    I may be a bit paranoid seeing as i noticed it after i upgraded the battery's ground to a bigger cable.

    If you turn the ignition switch pass accessory to the "On" position without starting the car, the Check Engine light will come on and stay on.............If the light isn't on when the car is running then it is all good.....

    If the Engine light comes on when you are driving you usually can still drive.........However if the engine light comes on while driving and starts to flash and beep, then STOP and pull over Immediately.......that means something is seriously wrong.......

    you rested the adaptives it will go away
    in a few hundred miles or sooner.It does this
    if you pull fuse 11 also.

    Put the key in, turn it to 'On' and watch the CEL, within 20-30 seconds it might start blinking.

    If it only blinks once, that's normal - if it blinks 10 times then you are not in 'emissions ready' status and will fail an emissions test. You'll need to drive it for several 'cycles' - normal everyday driving.

    How many cycles and how long it takes are things I don't know. I drove the 4 lane for 4 exits and took the little roads back and it went ready by the time I got back to the emissions place.

    Your mileage shouldn't vary...

    edit: it does this after an F11 pull like RunningBull mentioned, a battery disconnect like you found and also after writing any tune with a tuner.
