About the stock intakes for the 3.5's....

Ok, I was going to go the cheap route for a little while and was wondering if I should take the old Airaid filter that I had for my truck and just attach it to the stock hose, and if I do do that, what about the rubber hose that runs from the valve comver to the stock intake? I know that's there to allow the valves to breath, but is it really needed? I don't remember seeing one on my Dak.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Instead of that I'll sell you my Airaid intake. You only have to remove the top of the stock airbox to add the Airaid system in. I have 3 filters for it too.

Same price as some others have sold. $100 which includes shipping. I have 3 filters (1 Airaid filter and 2 S&B filters), a T-bolt clamp, and oil to re-oil the filters. All you wold need is the cleaner. The filters are not that dirty though.

Hmmmm... How long would you be willing to hold on to if for? Like I said, I'm a little bit on the cash shortage right now.

This is the first time I've mentioned that it's for sale. I'm not sure how long before someone shows interest.

I honestly think it's a waste of money. None of those things are dyno proven. If you don't want to waste too much money then just get the K&N drop-in filter. It will be some improvement over what you have now.

Some are actually dyno proven. Look at the Air Hammer HO. They provide the dyno test of one.

ZMagnum, thanks for letting me know that. IF I can come up with some money, I'll let you know.

Oh well the Hammer HO of course. I was the one who dyno tested the prototype. But you said the "Cheap" route which is why I didn't mention it.

I did find one on line that was "dyno tested". Not sure if it was for our cars or not. I am thinking that I want one more for the dress up until I can actually afford the Air Hammer. Might have to wait a year that one.

Don't believe what you see on-line. No matter who it comes from. That's why I like to hit the dyno pretty much every time I add a new mod.

I have the AirRaid "quick fit" and its ok. The funnel shape and the increased filter low of the Hammer H.O. ,I reckon, are the reasons for the hp increase(funnel being the main).

The label COLD air intake is misleading. The design of the AirRaid seals the top against the hood liner and still draws its air from the hole at the bottom of the stock air box. I have the dashhawk which can display the ambient and the intake air temps. Both stock and AirRaid have the same 3-5 degree difference cruizing at 65. The only improvement is more airflow. Might as well get a K&N stock replacement.

Not even adding a "ram flow" intake would make it colder, just more flow.

Note: tested both setups at full engine temp., 15 min apart, cruise controlled at 65mph, same road.

    That's very informational, thanks.

What I was thinking of doing was taking off the air box completely so that more air would run through the front grill and straight into the air intake. I realize that the air temp is going to be "not as cool" as the manuf. like to try and tell us. Now that you pointed it out with facts, it only confirms what I thought. Like I've said, I'm looking for a more of the different than stock look until I can afford the AirHammer and have it customized.
