    5.7l stroker in an sxt?

So I've been reading up a lot on the modern muscle supercharger and the inertia stroker, these run around 5k plus install give or take. I was also readin sum post about dropping a 5.7l hemi into the sxt, and it seems it can be done with sum minor mods to the rest of the car. So my question is if you can put a 5.7 in the car would it be possible to put a 5.7 based stroker like a 392 into an sxt? Seems like it would be possible, I have the 5 speed tranny and sunroof n foglights so I'm guessing matching up the cpu wouldn't be to hard. I read that the cpu from the hemi has to have all of the options that the car its going into has. Just wondering if its possible seems that it would be. For the money I'd rather drop in a hemi then get the v6 stroker or sc not that its not nice butseems like a 392 stroker can be built to much more power with a sc or nitrous than the v6 could.

I suspect it would be cheaper to sell your V6 and buy an SRT8.

Just a SWAG, but a 392 Stroker transplant would probably start at around $12-$15 grand... out the door, that is.

There's a guy on CustomMagnums who's done two different swaps successfully so far. 3.5L to 6.1L and 2.7L to 3.5L
He said it actually isn't as hard or expensive as you would think. Do you want his info? PM me.

Well the only thing you really need is:
    1. 5.7 hemi engine
    2. Nag 1 transmssion
    3. New rearend
    4. Matching driveshaft
    5. possible new radiator and trans cooler
    6. computer electronics
    7. new console shifter (possibly)
    8. new exhaust

Just those few small things and you'd be on your way. Of course it'd be cheaper to start with a real hemi car.

set a goal, if you just piece together part by part you need the cost will fly up. Even if you sold your car for 10-12k and bought an SRT for 22K you would end up sooo much better not just on power, but you'd have the suspension and interior upgrades and it would be an outright SRT. Many other benefits instead of a home brew upgrade. Plus you wouldn't even have a 5.7L core so you'd have to get a complete longblock.

Expense depends on how good a deal you can find on the Drivetrain (motor/trans/harness/PCM)..........the average prices I have seen for a 5.7L drivetrain has been around $5000.00, and around $7500.00 for a 6.1L drivetrain.......not including cost of installation...........

If you have the ability/time/patience/space to do the work, it can be done..........be prepared to trace wiring/electrical issues..........doing the swap yourself will save you a lot of cash.......

The stock suspension would have to upgraded, as well as the brakes...........

A 392 stroker motor is going to run you a lot more money.........The motor as stated earlier will probably be in the $10,000,00+ range......... and now you are looking at upgrading the rear end/half shafts/drive shafts...........

IMHO, if you are going send all that time and money for a stroker, go big.........get a 426 Stroked based on a 6.1L block.........

Thanx for the input guys yea I know it would be easier to just trade up but this is my first nice car, first car was a 93 tbird so I kinda would like to keep it but it seems like it would b too much of a headache unless I just went with the base 5.7 wich still would be pretty cool, I'm just guna save and see what I happens I owe a little to much to trade in rite now but maybe by next year with a decent downpayment I could do it, damn I don't wana start over on my modding! Lol but it would be worth it.

Even at that, if you are going to do a motor swap, I would skip the 5.7L and look at a stock 6.1L motor/drivetrain.

The 3.5L & 6.1L motors are better built motors then the 5.7L Hemi......

Yea skull boy I know wat you are saying but I'd have to switch out A LOT more things with the 6.1 than with the 5.7 I think rite? Like I stated I have the 5 sp tranny already but I think with the 6.1 pretty much everything wuld have to be switched. And I would deff like the guys info who already did the swap to get some details on this.

the rear end would have to be changed for sure on the 6.1 swap and even though it is a nag 1 the 6.1 nag1 has more pressure plates inside than the 5.7 or the3.5 so that might need to be looked at. the pumkin is a differant size on the 3.5 and 5.7 but the same gear ratio from what i remember. and on the 5.7 swap i think you can use the same fuel system minus injectors. but need to go to a bigger pump on the 6.1 swap

I think it'd be ALOT of work. I've looked into swapping from the 4spd to the 5spd and that alone looks like a huge ordeal. I've found that even the wiring up into the dash is different. I'm not saying it can't be done, just more work than I want to do to my daily driver. If it were me, I'd get a used car with whichever engine/drivetrain combo I wanted and start from there. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Best option is to find a complete wrecked 5.7L or 6.1L and use that as the donor car........then you would have pretty much everything you need to do the swap.......

From what i have read on the swaps, it is mostly the electrical/computer issues that pop up.........Swapping the actual motor & Drive train parts is pretty much bolt in..........

I still entertain the idea of doing a motor/drivetrain swap at times...........who knows what the future will see......
