4 speed to nag 1 check list

I'm working out what I would need to do the 4 speed to 5 speed swap.

I have a 2010 SXT without evic, but from the look of the display it should be able to show the correct gear indications after the swap.

    Required parts:
    • Nag 1 transmission from a 3.5L AWD
    • Oil pan from a 3.5L AWD
    • PCM
    • TCM
    • Shifter and cable
    • Drive shaft
    • Wiring harness
    Questions:

    1. PCM - Does this have to be from the same year/model as the target car?
    2. PCM - Does it need to be used or will a used one work?
    3. TCM - I'm guessing the TCM from the 3.5L AWD donner should work?
    4. Drive shaft - What model donner should this come from, i'm assuming from a RWD 5speed model? (R/T?)
    5. Wiring harness - What is the correct harness i'm guessing the one from the 3.5L AWD should work?
    6. Shifter and cable - From the 3.5L donner should work?
    7. Programming - What programming is required other than the PCM?
    8. Programming - Can the PCM be programmed by a dealer before its fitted? This would allow fitting the whole system in one go.
    9. Time - How long does the swap take, if everything is available when you start?
Looking forward to hearing back from people that have done this mod.

What do you want out of a nag1? IMO I will just trade in for another car with options I want. Trans/engine swap is difficult, and very few people can do it correctly.

    1. PCM - Does this have to be from the same year/model as the target car? yes
    2. PCM - Does it need to be new or will a used one work? used but dealer has to add your vin and skim to it
    3. TCM - I'm guessing the TCM from the 3.5L AWD donner should work? yes
    4. Drive shaft - What model donner should this come from, i'm assuming from a RWD 5speed model? (R/T?) front half from a 2010 3.5 5spd
    5. Wiring harness - What is the correct harness i'm guessing the one from the 3.5L AWD should work? needs to be made special with zenner diode in line.
    6. Shifter and cable - From the 3.5L doner should work? yup
    7. Programming - What programming is required other than the PCM? chrysler engineering software for auto stick function
    8. Programming - Can the PCM be programmed by a dealer before its fitted? no
    9. This would allow fitting the whole system in one go.
    10. Time - How long does the swap take, if everything is available when you start? took me two day's one for swap one hour at dealer for vin/skim program. also new somebody with engineering support

personally I don't know anybody to have done one in a awd. If you live anywhere close to FLA i would contact John at amp. He has done a bunch.
Now my two cents worth....put a $2000 supercharger on it. Leave the tranny alone and have fun driving a pretty quick awd. The awd factor should help protect your 4spd for a while if your not to hard on it!!

This is not for an AWD, I was assuming (maybe correctly maybe not) that the components from the 3.5 AWD would be the easiest to find. As far as I know this is the only 2010 3.5 with the nag1.

You can use a 2007,8,9,10 nag1 from a 3.5V6 300,magnum,charger or challenger. Must be a RWD model. The tcm and pcm should come from the model year you are using them on. Unless you have someone who can reflash them. This swap is NOT possible without engineering software support. It is a very difficult swap, you have to really want it. I had no choice. My car is not going anywhere. If you decide you really want/need this conversion You need to find someone with engineering software support first.

Keep up doing the research cus I'd like to do this some day. I'm going to start looking for a doner car/components now. It will take me awhile to get the $2000 together anyway. I can do all my own work but not the programming or harness work.

I definitely need this checklist. Thanks for putting it together for all of us.
2005 Magnum SXT: Fiberglass Hood, smoked LED tail lights, billet grille, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow Cat-Back, Polk Audio speakers, BT Catch Can, Debadged, Demolded, Ported & polished lower manifold, TB, and Jet Coated valve covers, front & rear R/T sway bars, longtube headers, Modern Muscle Supercharger, Inertia Big-Valve heads, Inertia custom cams

To Do Still: tint the front windows, wheels and rubber, freshen up the paint, and maybe a little more...

finally, and most important your car will not opperate correctly without programing.
the settings will not just switch over.

yes the cluster can be used in a 4 or 5 speed car but it will not just auto configure.

You will have to add a tcm, and shifter to the can network.
as well as get the 3.5 pcm programed to your vin/skim.

so unless you get it programed dont be unhappy when autostick etc doesnt work.
need someone like me who can reconfigure the cars programing.

OH and last but not least YOur car does have abs currently correct. Traction control button on the dash.,

I sitll dont know why people say trade instead of upgrade . A 4 to 5 speed trans swap with parts can take me a few hours in and out.

and in some cases for less than 1k. depends on parts availability. there is no chance to trade and be in the same place at the end of the day.

also if you are not adding awd, you need a RWD 3.5 5speed oil pan.

Absolutely....some people have put alot of time, money, and effort into their cars and are upgrading to take advantage of the other mods they've done. I know this is a rabbit hole that nobody wants to run down, but if trading up is always better than upgrading, why does anyone own anything less than an SRT......or why aren't we all driving Porche's/Ferarri's/McLaren's/etc...
