    3.5 sounds like a diesel?

Hello everyone. I'm driving an 07 300 as a rental for a few weeks while my car gets fixed, and I love it! I've test driven the Hemis before but had I known the 3.5 was so potent I could have gotten into a nice affordable 300 or Magnum and been quite satisfied.

I do have a question. The 300 I'm driving, I'm sure this car has been subject to the usual "Don't be gentle, it's only a rental" effect, it sounds a bit like a diesel; even when warmed up I can still hear a bit of what might be piston slap, loose tolerances at the least. It's quite strong, no terrible noises, but is it normal for the 3.5 to sound a little rattley?

Well my guess is it probably didnt have a proper break in. The 3.5 in my Magnum generally doesnt have that problem. I have noticed on a few occasions at idle in warmer temperatures there seems to be a little excess noise or rattle when the compressor and fans kick on.

Could be the injectors. They tend to make a ticking noise when the car is idling. Have noticed it on mine.

But is this a normal sound? I have it once the car is warmed up, and I don't like it!!

i think ever 3.5 has this same problem ive taken mine to the dealer like 5 times over this **** and all they tell me is to float the valves once in a blue moon the tech said get it around 3700+ rpm and they will start to rotate to blow off all the carbon build up. but when i try it the noise still comes back. so my goal is to blow the motor that way they have no excuse. lol

I had that injector sound but it goes away when you install Zoomers.

My dealership cleaned the injectors 10,000 kms to address this complaint...of course, it still ticked........but then I changed gas from 87 to 89, as suggested by the owners manual, and it seems to have subsided considerably!
