    '08 rear diferential

I read on here that the '08 SXT was going back to the 4 spd transmission. Has anyone heard what the final drive ration in the differential is.

I can't even remember what mine is but would be kool if the '08s were slightly lower.

Sorry to Jaak your thread Danny. I have no clue about the differential in the '08 but you need to go to this thread and give your input with the B&G flash and the 4 spd transmission.

    Custom tuning coming for v6ers!!

the V6's run the 198 RII which is a 7.8 inch rear. the axle ratios available are 3.07, 3.64, and 3.90.

the 3.64 is the SXT RWD
the 3.07 is the SXT AWD
the 3.90 is the SE with the 2.7

as for the transmissions, i made a scan of the gear ratios for the 4 and 5 speed.

all the info i posted is a combo of the shop manual and the dodge website

Does that mean I can get 3.07 ring and pinion installed in my RWD SXT? That would be awsome and the best performance mod so far. I'm still thinking it wont work. Either the housing may be different or Hal would raise hell.

I've heard some of the RT guys are running the 3.07 from the SRT8. Can anyone explain how they got around HAL?

Actually I screwed this post up. I should have said can I get a 3.90 ring and pinion set for a 2.7 to put in my magnum. It looks like it was answered anyway in the following post.

How about if I got the whole rear end axles included

The R/t's are able to change to the SRT 3.06 by using the SRT8 transmission control module. To make the change we have to swap out the drive shaft, the rear assembly and the rear axles. At this point there is no way to change the rear in anything else.

I already have the same transmission as the 2.7 so if I can get the code from the pcm for just the ECU #2 anychance it would work if I got the whole housing and axles? I really don't know enough about all the sensors involved but would love to go from a 3.64 to a 3.90 if in fact I have a 3.64 now.

when i was looking stuff up....

i made a post on the rear end drive trains a few days ago. transmission ratio we do share, but the rear ends are different.

the 5.7L hemis Regular and the Daytonas use the rear end 210mm RII (8.3inch) axle which comes in a 2.82 axle ratio.

the SRT8 or any 6.1 (super bee included) RWD runs a 3.06 rear end axle ratio, but use the 215mm RII

as for getting something different installed, i would check to see first, how many sensors are on the rear diff housing. it would seem that if there are none to little, you may be able to get around it.

also from what i understand, generally, the higher the ratio, the better the acceleration....

the lower the ratio, the better the fuel economy. so going from the 3.64 to a 3.06 would mean slower acceleration, right?...

Guys do a search on this v6 forum for the rear end swap. I recall about a year ago or so one of the members on here did infact swap the rear end on his 3.5L Magnum. Hal puked and went idle.
