07 SXT w/5speed auto and the new Stage1 Jet Chip review

Didn't know if anyone would be interested in this, but i recently installed the Stage 1 Jet Chip for the 3.5 and thought i'd share my thoughts, in case anyone was considering the same mod.

    Currently have:
    K&N Panel filter
    10w30 synthetic

the chip took about 5-10minutes to install (mostly due to trying to fit it back in carefully)

after the battery was reconnected, started the car, problem free.

have driven aggressively city driving to finish off the tank of gas... and see what's it's like.

WOW, i won't say that it's smoking the tires, but the shifting is MUCH more responsive. No lag, it just goes.

the autostick seems to shift a little quicker as well.

passing at highway speeds, revs quicker.
the drive is definitely more fun now.

I'm actually testing the mileage now by babying it and seeing what happens (without resetting the ECU again) i want to see how long it takes to learn what i'm doing

    non-aggressive driving, i've hit 575km a tank
    aggressive driving, i've hit 480km a tank
aggressive with chip, i've hit 490km before the low fuel light.

I noticed a difference in my truck with the just a Airaid CAI and exhaust. I was actually able to spin my tires just a little bit (AWD) in wet pavement. I'll probably buy another one.

Hey James, Thats some good info!
Have you noticed a slight hesitation in your transmission in the mornings....I have an 07 that I just got 6 weeks ago, and, Im hoping this is normal.....I drive a tow truck most of the time, so she only has about 850 miles on the clock. I`m going to have them check the fluid level when I take it to have the GPS theft tracking system installed.

My NAG1 transmission is also quite sluggish off the mark especially once the temperature dips.

However, it seems mine is a victim of the leaky o-rings so my fluid might be down a bit. Wish I could check but on this German trans this has become a big dealership procedure now

The Jet chips actually do nothing for the transmission/shift points.

The chip strictly adjusts/modifies air/fuel ratios and timing curves curves............

A few members have contacted Jet and asked them and were told the above.........

If you haven't pulled the fuse or disconnected the battery previously, you might just be seeing the result of clearing the PCM of past driving history..........

    From the Jet Website:

Point by point air/fuel ratio, ignition advance and various other tuning points provide performance gains of up to 25 horsepower. Improves throttle response, acceleration and low end torque.

Stage 1-For stock or mildly modified vehicles. Fuel and timing curves are modified for optimal performance and mileage using less expensive, lower octane fuels. Programming is designed to burn fuel at peak efficiency, which results in improved performance and mileage. Daily drivers can use lower cost regular fuel for potential mileage gains, but for optimal performance gains use of mid-grade or better is recommended.

Stage 2-Designed for the performance enthusiast, the Stage 2 features more aggressive programming to make the most horsepower and torque available. Fuel and timing curves are extensively modified for peak performance and drivability. Requires use of 91 octane fuel, 180 degree thermostat and free flow exhaust. Also works well with aftermarket intake systems, mass air sensors, TBI spacers, etc.

I run the Jet Stage II chip and noticed quite a big difference in performance over stock.

sorry haven't checked this thread in a while...

i came across the same thing from Jet... i was just stating what it felt like.
putting 89 octane instead of 87, has also produced interesting results...

again, car feels more responsive, and even though i'm driving more aggressively city/hwy driving, gas consumption hasn't gone up any.

i'm averaging about 500km per tank of 60L
if i baby it, i get more.

If you get the B&G flash you'll want to throw the jet chip in the trash cus it's no longer needed :D

There will likely be a pile of 'em on the used market as soon as the V6 tuner starts shipping (ETA seems likely to be a few weeks from now).
